Hamer Special 1982 unique & rare union jack

Another Special from 1982 is trying to get sold for big bucks - $7,118 with $600 shipping.

Usual going price for early 1980s Special is around $2,000. So, why $5K markup? Because seller says that painted Union Jack is worth extra $5K!!!!

Original factory finishes are scarce and demand high prices, and that's what the seller implies here, yet if you look closer at the pics you'll notice that:

1) Under the paint it looks like a normal wood grain of a thin veneer Special top.

2) Red paint surface is bubbly and uneven, not something you'd expect from Hamer workshop at the time (especially evident in pic #14). This looks more like an overspray one would do in their garage.

3) Red paint is applied over dings - see pic #8. New guitar at the factory would not have these dings, it's obvious that well played instrument was used for painting over. 

To me this looks like an aftermarket amateur paint job and sorry attempt to extract big money from the buyers.

Maybe the seller intended to express the price in Lire (though that technically no longer exists).

That may be part of the price.  If you pay a couple hundred too much, you feel like a fool.  If you pay thousands more than what others expect to pay, you must know something they don't.  The price will justify itself.
