Hamer95USA Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Hey guys, I was checking out the Craig's List today and noticed some pretty good deals on the Hamer guitar here. I'm in no way affiliated with the sellers.http://www.craigslist.org/eby/msg/162683915.htmlhttp://www.craigslist.org/sby/msg/163100681.htmlhttp://www.craigslist.org/eby/msg/163192491.htmlhttp://www.craigslist.org/sby/msg/163297407.htmlhttp://www.craigslist.org/eby/msg/163701543.htmlhttp://www.craigslist.org/sby/msg/164098174.html Guitar George

Hamer95USA Posted May 25, 2006 Author Posted May 25, 2006 Nice Sunburst but that bridge added... Is it possible going back to stock bridge and amended it? Hey luiss, BCR Greg and a few other guitar repair guys on the board can remove the Floyd Rose tremolo and restore it with the original Sustainblock bridge. I'm close to the seller if you want me to help out with the transaction. George
luiss Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Thanks George I'm thinking about getting a Sunburst from some time ago.How much do you guess the restoration to stock would cost?
BCR Greg Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 I have pics of the Sunburst, it's rough. I cleaned them up and resized them. Nice guy, good price but restoration? Nah.
RacerX Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Nice guy, good price but restoration? Nah. +1 Exactly, I'd straighten out the freehand looking route , Clean her up a little and rock it. Mark.
gkelm Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Thanks for posting, guys...I'm going to look into this (the floyd-burst). Is the nut in the right place...appears to be encroaching on the fretboard?Greg
cmatthes Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Tough to tell, but the nut looks fine from the pics.Definitely not worth the amount you'd have to spend to restore it to a Sustainblock. Unless you refinned in an opaque finish, you'd also always have the mahogany fill in the back and the maple patch on the top showing, not to mention the whole whacked nut area. That one's best left with a Floyd.

peedenmark7 Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 for a brief moment I thought this was my old guitar... bought new in '82, sold in '89.. p.j. marx installed floyd rose...everything jived...original early floyd nut because it originally had a non fine tuner unit.. swapped the bridge to fine tuner, but left the nut...right color and eveything... chip by the trem cavity same spot..but ....I had a trem cover drilled to cover the route , this one apparently does not...was a bit bummed would love to have that one back...
