black magic Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Hello folks, I am so serious about my CS Guitar order that I am offering up my 1987 Chap Custom 1-Off in Cherry Sunburst(figured maple top) with cream body binding, cherry back of body(mahogany) and neck(maple), black hardware, non-recessed Floyd, Short Scale with mini switches that also split the 3 pickups. H/S/S pickups with a Hamer Slammer in the bridge and 2 OBL rail single humbuckers in the middle and neck positions. Ebony and boomers ofcourse and original Hamer case all functional. There is checking in the clearcoat on the top of the body and many places, but only in the clearcoat, can only see up close. Frets are in awsome condition and curently set up with 10-46 strings. This is a very rare Chap. I have 2 pics to start out with but can take more, I have tried to get the checking to show up in the pics, but I just can`t and it`s only cosmetic up close, doesn`t affect the playability. Anyway, if you would like pics and I am going to take more, I have 2 to start, please email me at jackgraner@yahoo.com. Also email me for the price as this is a very special peice. Thank you-Jack.
cmatthes Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Jack, I know those are tough to find, but what makes this a "one-off"? It sounds just like the catalog description for the bound/flametop version.Just curious...
black magic Posted April 3, 2005 Author Posted April 3, 2005 I didn`t know it was a production model, I thought it was a special order? I hardly ever seen them. Well, it is also unique that it is a 1987 short scale model as most were 1985/86. Jack.
serial Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 I think all Chap mapletops were short scale-I haven't seen one otherwise. They are pretty cool and not that common, but even the Chapparals with the CARVED maple tops were a catalog item in '86 and '87.Cool guitar indeed and somewhat rare, but not "one of a kind", which gets overused to the point of annoyance. It has become my new "mojo" or "vibe" on eBay since I see so many run of the mill Strats or the like with replaced pickups suddenly being "one-offs" or "one of a kind". This one is at least pretty rare.
BCR Greg Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 Somebody got you, Jack, if they told you it was a one-off. PhantomGT has one, Paults HAD one, I've seen a few more.
eightyfour Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 Jack, let's see the photos bro. Not a big shredder fan, but this guitar has me curious.
black magic Posted April 4, 2005 Author Posted April 4, 2005 Actually, to be truthfull as I really didn`t know. I just took it as a 1-Off as I see very few of them around. Thanks-Jack.
black magic Posted April 9, 2005 Author Posted April 9, 2005 Bump. I can`t believe I still have this beauty!! Jack.
black magic Posted April 18, 2005 Author Posted April 18, 2005 Greg, I so do bro, but as it seams in my life, poop keeps happening to me bro. If this sells man, I will be down to 1 guitar, but I will clean up some poop Gotta laugh sometimes or you cry, I am done crying over what happens to my family. Jack.
black magic Posted April 19, 2005 Author Posted April 19, 2005 $1000 USPS MO if you pick it up. or $1000 Paypal plus 3% if you pick it up. Jack.
black magic Posted April 25, 2005 Author Posted April 25, 2005 1 more bump before Ebay. Are you guys going to let this sweety go to someone on Ebay, vome on save her :-) Thanks-Jack.
black magic Posted April 26, 2005 Author Posted April 26, 2005 Wow man, that is very humbling. Mine isn`t in that good of shape. I hope that goes way higher than that price or I will be keeping mine. If I can`t get at least $1000 for mine, it ain`t going anywhere. That one there is a closset classic. I don`t know what else to say, except I thought these guitars were worth a bundle. I appreciate your help Greg, I beleive I will wait for the rigth time. It seams to be all in the timing. Thanks bro-Jack.
kurtsstuff Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Ok...I gotta say it...and it's only my opinion and please forgive me Jack but...Damn those guitars are ugly!! there I said it I'm standin by it and I know you are but what am I??? lol!
black magic Posted April 26, 2005 Author Posted April 26, 2005 They sure are :-) But damn do they play great!! Jack.
BCR Greg Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 PhantomGT has one, and I think they are cool as hell. They sure don't photgraph well, but they are really wild in person.
black magic Posted April 27, 2005 Author Posted April 27, 2005 Greg, you are so right!! They look kinda bland in photos, bud very nice in person. Jack.
black magic Posted May 1, 2005 Author Posted May 1, 2005 The one on ebay went for $986.79, it must be the market right now. So, here is where I am at. Take a big hit and sell it for less than this one or maybe trade it for something I can turn for what I paid for it. If anyone is interested, please email me with your best offer, keeping in mind what the one on Ebay went for. If anyone has a nice Studio Custom(Ebony board a plus) they aren`t digging, I may trade my Chap for it, I could use a nice Tunamatic guitar. Thanks-Jack. jackgraner@yahoo.com
BCR Greg Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 Keep it, Jack. When are you going to find another?Hamer WILL NOT make more(they say), so it's just going to appreciate.
