Guest JackButler Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Okay my bruddahs here's a head's up for anyone that tries to deal with these folks.I had/have an artist pricing deal with Brooklyn Gear to supply me with PICKBOY picks. (The carbon nylon "Edge" Heavy 1.14mm to be specific) They would supply me with picks in exchange for a mention in the book and promoting them at clinics. This came about back in February. 02-02-07 to be exact. I started the ball rolling by going online and placing an order for a bag..put the on my VISA at FULL RETAIL. A few weeks later..no picks.. went and checked the order status...PENDING FUFILMENT.few more weeks.. same thing..And now..today.. still no picks.. picks that I paid for..and they gladly collected payment for.Now I have the numbers and mail addys for the president.. Adam Levy.. this is the guy who set the thing up.After weeks of numerous calls and e-mails to every department ... not a single reply. I've never even used the endorsee/artist pricing.. paid full pop for everything I ordered.. and all I can get are answering machines.oh yeah.. btw.. any of you retailers who are reading this thread..I STILL NEED PICKS! I'm heading in to the studio to do the disc for the book. Gotta go somewhere in Massachusettes for this one.I'm looking for someone who can supply me with Jim Dunlop Tortex SHARP picks (the pointed ones) in 1.50mm (they're the white ones) OR the above mentioned PICKBOY Edge Carbon nylon 1.14mm (these too are a pointed/sharp pick).Anyone that can get me these picks can either PM me or shoot me a mail.Much appreciated.
savethematches Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I bought some Wrangler picks at Wal-Mart. They match my stylish blue jeans.
Brewmaster Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I just started using Dunlop Ultex 1.14. It has a Rhino image on it. Muy excellante!!! JMHO
ET_KenW Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I've got a bunch of the Dunlop Sharps, but in Yellow. I forget what they are in thickness. If you want them as a fall back shoot me a mailing address. I can send about 15 to 20, I think.I don't use them anymore. I gave up on trying to get a sharp pick attack on the strings. LOL
ArnieZ Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I have the Dunlop Tortex 1.5mm, the purple ones, can send plenty!ArnieZ
RobB Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Huh...who knew? I used Pickboy carbon graphite 'pot' picks for years (1mm) and always got great service from Brooklyn/Adam Levy. And, yes, I paid retail for my bags as they shipped fast and those picks seemed to last forever. Frankly, Kevin, I'm a bit suprised at your post. IMO, you're overreacting and taking Brooklyn's silence personally. They're just stupid picks. Just use something else in the meantime and have your VISA charge reversed. Or, do what I did: Settle for Fender heavies and don't insist on using specialty picks that are hard to find and cost $1 each...
santellavision Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Forget plastic or Carbon nylon... just grab a Mexican peso and rock like The Rev. Billy G!

The thing that got me wasn't not getting the picks.. it was/is the lack of communication/customer service. As far as the specialty picks.. guitar isn't just a hobby.. its my vocation and how I feed my children and provide for my wife and family..so its taken serious. If a certain pick helps me/makes me feel like I perform just a little bit better, thats one less little thing to worry about. So even though their just "stupid picks".. they help me do my job.
ceeb Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 I'm a Sharkfin man, myself. You should try them. Sound engineers who know, choose Sharkfin. Take my word for it you don't want to show up for this gig and embarass yourself.Oh yeah, bring 2. In case you loose one. Pros always have a backup.
anotherfreak2 Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Hey Jack,I think I have some of the Steve Vai pickboy picks, I think they're 1.14 and they have the rubery grip.give me a call if I can help out!

Don't care if they're pics or an expensive guitar; non-communication is not a good sign. It's possible they are in the hospital or sick and unable to communicate, but find this to rarely be the case. There -are- plenty of other suppliers that will provide good customer communications.
anotherfreak2 Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Hey Jack,I don't have your number, so drop me a line next week, bill
