Overplayed, under talented.

I thought the best part was when he had the towel over his head.

Firewall prevents me from viewing this video, but from the comments, this is, maybe, Fred Durst?

I usually have that problem too; kind of a game.

Not this time tho. Think of strychnine, a fender amp, and a guy whose first two names are initials.

C.C. Deville should win some kind of award for being the most famous guitar player with the worst recorded and live electric guitar tone in history.

His sound is so bad, I believe that it actually takes talent to emulate.

agreed its like a guitar being played through an AM radio, then cranked through a pa system... nothing but grind and shrill...

but he's fun to watch....

So much so that Richie Kotzen and Blues Saraceno were rejected like transplanted livers when they brought Poison's guitar tone to the completely opposite end of the sonic spectrum. Of course, Kotzen boinking Rikki Rocket's wife also had something to do with his dismissal.

CC is a human cartoon character. Terrible guitarist but apparently a very liekable guy when he's not gakked to the nines.

If I would have had the choice earlier in life:

a: be the most talented guitarist on the planet, but be limited to only bar bands and somewhat local/regional notoriety

or

b: be C.C. DeVille

I'd have gone with plan B.

Fuck yeah, without a doubt.

The only thing the hair band era did for me was provide motivation for me to appreciate The Doors, The Who, The Stones and Velvet Underground. I kept waiting for him to tune up during the song, but he didn't (that I saw), so he gets bonus points...still not my preferred style of music, though. Not that he cares what I think.

Not sure why his royal CC-ness indulges in the over-chorus tone so much. I will say that back in the late 80's early 90's, I saw Poison open for DLR and they put on one HELL of a show, and no, I didn't like them before or during the show, but I did have some respect for them afterwards....

Cajun,

I hear what you are saying, but trust me on this: If you ever met C.C.-- and he is very accesible--you would choose plan "A".

Edited to add: I don't think CC "sucks", I just can't understand how he was living the bulk of his career in a veritable "new age" of sonic guitar recording, and he still managed to sound like he was playing through an AM radio.

Then again, Mick Mars had the most annoying mid-rangey guitar tone, but I think he was perfect for the band he was in. I guess the same goes for CC Deville.

I saw Poison live both before and after they were famous. Besides thinking, "These douchebags ripped off Kix", I was always shocked at how CC's guitar tone was consistently bad. No nut crunch at all.

I'll agree with that. I saw them open for DLR on the Sky scraper tour and both bands kicked ass!
