Steve Haynie Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 TC Electronic was always an expensive brand. Now it can be even more expensive!
Disturber Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 "This merger will create exciting new opportunities for all employees within TC Group and Gibson, and in particular, fantastic new tools for our markets and customers . " Yawn! Rolls over to other side, falls asleep again... edit: just woke up again. If T.C Electronics is a Danish company, then Gibson will be a 50% Scandinavian company if they merge. Do I need to switch brand then...? (Lol).

peedenmark7 Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 give it another 8 to 10 yrs and we'll see everyone under the fmic/gibson banner... they will merge under the guise of saving the planet from upstart communist guitar manufacturers. all guitars will be produced in china on the same fries and a shake assembly line by .25 cent an hour luthiers, whether they are custom shop, usa store stock or import line... the only way to know the difference will be by the cutesy brand name label that they hot glue to the back of the headstock so as not to infringe on any of its 20 brand name holdings. it could happen..... corporations and guitar manufacturing really dont belong together... true art is lost when big money is the theme of the day. you really cant get behind any maker these days... because just when you get comfy.... SOLD TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER!
Willie G. Moseley Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 If they start putting an umlaut over the "o" in "Gibson", then maybe they can line up Lemmy as an endorser. Motorhead's more popular in Europe anyway. Eh, wot?!?
Blueshound Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 According to some of the guys on The Gear Page it's not really a merger; TC Electronics bought Gibson. I have no idea if that's the case or not, but if true, things could get interesting for the Gibson group.Lee
Armitage Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Will TC Electronic stuff now be full of glue?Only time will tell.

I have no idea if that's the case or not, but if true, things could get interesting for the Gibson group.I posted this somewhere else, but I don't know that there's any such thing as a true merger anymore. For those of us not 'in the know', I suspect we'll need time to find out how things really shake out. I understand a TC guy is the new COO, but I think where you really find out how the balance of power shakes out in a 'merger' is in the upper and mid-level management that we won't hear about. My company just went through a 'merger', and we've found that the other company seems to be getting somewhere in the neighborhood of about 70-80% of those types of jobs, and this was supposed to be a merger of 'equals'.All that said, TC having the upper hand is probably better than the other way 'round.Alan
