Siaip Ciuvas Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Haya, crossed this item - any comments? I couldn't find much info on Chapparals, but to me it looks pretty strange :/
edgar_allan_poe Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Looks like a standard setneck Chapp in a weird color. I don't see anything out of the ordinary.
veatch Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 crossed this item - any comments? I couldn't find much info on Chapparals, but to me it looks pretty strange :/The early chaps were set neck and 24 3/4" scale, so that is fine. The neck joint looks odd, though. I am curious if there was a repair there, or if it's just weird lighting/reflection. I'd request a closer pic of the neck joint if you are serious.I'm not sure what the two holes on the top were for. I think all of the Chaps had Floyds, so i doubt it was another bridge. Get a pic of the rear cavity. That would show if the Floyd was original or add on.They are great guitars if you want a super-strat with the shorter scale and set neck...
cmatthes Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 It's right on the money.GREAT color! Not sure what the holes are, but that one was originally done with a Floyd. That seller also buys/sells a fair number of Hamers.
Lockbody Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Won't it be mahogany, instead of alder as listed, since it's a setneck?
kurtsstuff Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Should be Mahogany body....wrong species listed no biggie.....all is well

"Chaparral (1st version) (1985 - 1987) - contoured body with offset double cutaways, glued-in maple neck (24.75 inch scale length) with 24 fret rosewood fingerboard, dot-inlays and steeply angled peghead. Fitted with a humbucker and two single-coil pickups (usually Hamer Slammers) and Floyd Rose trem.. Some guitars are fitted with Kahler trems.. The Chaparral Custom is as above but has an ebony fingerboard, boomerang inlays and upgraded pickups (usually OBL). Usually fitted with three mini-switches and front mounted output jack. " I copied the pics that best show the neck joint and blew them up. There appears to be finish missing on the heal in back and along the joint below the fretboard in front. Bidders definitely should ask for more pics and/or explanations first. Otherwise appears to be one mean green shred-machine...
