polara Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 1980 Sunburst I was WATCHING it and got trapped at work. I am an IDIOT!
Thundernotes Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I hate it when that happens. Somebody got a good deal!
Aceldama Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Don't feel bad, it didn't go all the way. he yanked it to sell to the high bidder...
cornjulio Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I had NOOOO idea! Man...too bad...where did that come from???
bizzwriter Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I had NOOOO idea! Man...too bad...where did that come from??? Damn -- the seller listed the guitar as a Hammer instead of Hamer! Guess I should expand my ebay search terms to include likely alternate spellings. By the way, it's unlikely the seller let the guitar go for just $670. He probably had a buyer who wanted it REALLY BAD, and who is paying him an additional premium over the $670 to lock up the purchase. This exact situation happened to me earlier this year when I sold an old Tokai Love Rock I had. The buyer REALLY wanted it and he was local (no shipping!), so I shut down the auction several days early for the then-current bid of $500 and change, and he paid me an extra $300 or so above that (cash, not through PayPal). That's pretty much the only way you can create a "buy it now" auction when you didn't originally set it up that way. I got a couple of emails from freaked out bidders wondering why I "gave away" the guitar for just $500! Maybe we'll get the full story from the buyer of this beautiful Sunburst someday...
kizanski Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 You shoulda said something. I woulda grabbed it for ya.I think I recognize the winning bidder...

Steve Haynie Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Those darn "Hammer" people ignore the people willing to pay bigger bucks.

Aceldama Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 I was about to email him about buying the guitar if I was the high bidder. I just needed him to hold it until I am over in Nor Cal at the end of the month. It was gone before I could hit send!
David B Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 I bought many great "Hammers" at well below what the were worth.
