Didn't Eclipses come with minihums?

Yeah - the pickups are definitely not original (PhatCats hadn't been designed in 1995). It could have been routed from the original Minis or possibly ordered w/Humbuckers.

Still, trying to find a LEFTY Eclipse XII anywhere else is going to be damned tough!

I used to know the original owner and it having been originally ordered with humbuckers is a possibility. Dan was pretty persnickety and a number of his Hamers had little deviations from the norm. I'm trying to talk my lefty bassist into getting this, but I don't think it's going to happen.

Phat Cats work great on the Newport 12. I bet it would work well on the Eclipse, though I expect it would sound a bit darker overall.

I was talking with the former owning about buying that one around 2001. It was originally ordered with HB's, probably 59's. At the time, I didn't like the finish or the guy's name on the headstock, and I would have preferred the minibuckers on a 12. The Phat Cats make it a little more intriguing now, though.
