bubs_42 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 That's what I'm missing, a Semi Hollow with and Ebony Board.. That's a great guitar even if it has Gold Hardware..
veatch Posted August 10, 2008 Author Posted August 10, 2008 That's what I'm missing, a Semi Hollow with and Ebony Board.. That's a great guitar even if it has Gold Hardware.. I'm not much of a fan of gold either, but it goes well with that Cognac finish... What's not to like on this thing? I even think the case is cool. Unfortunately, i'm about $3500 short for this one...
bubs_42 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Darn, when you ad a zero to $350 that makes a deal killer!
ArnieZ Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I'm obviously an Ultimate fan, tho not the cognac finish. Worth every penny of the asking price. A more unique sounding guitar than you might think. The pickups and wiring in these really separates them from an Artist Custom.ArnieZ
Guest pirateflynn Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 What color is your's .. Aztec Gold? What a top on that one ArnieZ!
veatch Posted August 10, 2008 Author Posted August 10, 2008 What a top on that one ArnieZ!And how! Killer top.The Cognac definitely hides a lot of the figure on the top, and it would have been a shame to see the quilt on yours covered with it! But i do like the Cognac on a moderate flame, like the one in the auction. Kinda subtle.
ArnieZ Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 What color is your's .. Aztec Gold? What a top on that one ArnieZ! Ken, The color is brown sugar, photo in early AM sunlight. Brown sugar was a originally developed by Phoenix. I think it is honey with a dash of brown. Interesting story on the top. I had picked out a top at HFC 6, I think. I got an email from Alpep saying there was a problem with the top. After it was bookmatched, a defect was noted and they didn't want to make the guitar with it. Jol, said I could take a ride to the shop and pick again. I think it was Frank who had this billet stashed in his work area, when I saw I knew I wanted it! Here is a pic of the raw billet. And here is a pic of my honey Artist Custom and Ultimate ine the same light ArnieZ
atquinn Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 That's what I'm missing, a Semi Hollow with and Ebony Board.. That's a great guitar even if it has Gold Hardware.. Semi-hollow with an ebony fretboard? (o.k., so it doesn't have an f-hole ). -Austin

Semi-hollow with an ebony fretboard? (o.k., so it doesn't have an f-hole ). -Austin Not having an F'in hole is no problem. That is a good looking guitar and a good snag. I have an 81 Flying V with an Ebony Board but sorry to say that guitar is one dimentional. It Rocks but, i would love a guitar that gets a little jazzy and rude at the same time. I'm thinking Walsh and Frampton. A lot of LP Custom's working. I'll start looking when I get off my butt and actually get serious about selling my 91 Sunburst.
