specialk Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Looks like a pretty fair price to me. My question would be if anyone knows what kind of pups are in it? Minibuckers? Phat Cats? I don't need another P-90 guitar, but if they were buckers, I'd bid on it.skEclipse Link
Bloozguy Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 They're Duncan Mini Humbuckers. I'm not positive, but I think they came from the factory with one SM-2 and one SM-3. Wraptail Eclipses are very cool...go for it!

Anyway, I just grabbed it. Thanks much, Bloozguy! sk

I was going to edit my post to say that the BIN price was pretty darn good...but I guess you thought that too!I've got a wraptail 6-string and 12-string and a stop tail 6-string and they're all awesome sounding and really comfortable to play.Ray

I love my Eclipse, and saw that auction and felt my hand twitching impulsively to the BIN button.Let us know when it gets home!Congratulations!-Jonathan
belgian Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Excellent move ! I got one a couple of months ago, and it's the "living room" guitar now !
specialk Posted October 1, 2008 Author Posted October 1, 2008 Thanks all! Just got back from getting the MO to pay for it! I remember reading on these boards someplace that Eclipses's were comfy playing, and I guess I'll find out. The seller said the neck has the modern carve, which suits me fine. This may mean there'll be a 96 T-51 coming up for sale soon. There will be pics when I get it! Thanks to all again! Rod
Bloozguy Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I remember reading on these boards someplace that Eclipses's were comfy playing They're one of the few Hamers with Strat-style body contours...arm cut and belly cut. Even if you're not a fat old guy like me that really needs those features, they are darn comfortable. Ray

Nice grab, my local store had one hagging for ever and it was a nice guitar.

Don't think I could afford that habit, Now to try to find some info on Eclipses. Are wraptails and minibuckers pretty standard? Bloozguy mentioned they have the arm/belly cut. Nice! And the trans red and chrome look good! I think they are fairly lightweight. The wait begins....

I'm not an expert by any means, but all of the unmodified Eclipses that I have ever seen have had Duncan Mini Humbuckers and most have been wraptails. Every one I've seen has also had the arm and belly cuts. My wraptail 6-string feels light as a feather but the stoptail 6-string feels beefier, more like a Studio. All bets are off on the 12-string...it's probably got 5 pounds of tuners on the headstock As far as sound goes, the wraptail seems to be a little "snappier" and brighter than the stoptail. The stoptail does have a bit fuller sound with seemingly more sustain. YMMV...but you'll probably love it

Certainly old, and most certainly not as "svelte" as I once was. Just got the Eclipse today and it is indeed comfy! I read about the differences in the neck and bridge pup's, but they're really amazing in real life. They sound so good together, but are absolutely nothing like each other. Great balance! Glad I got it, and thanks again for the pup info before I pulled the trigger.
Bloozguy Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 I'm glad you like it...I didn't think I'd be steering you wrong. I looked at the pics in your other post and she's a beauty! As far as the pickups go, someone here recently had a set of DiMarzio mini humbuckers for sale for a pretty reasonable price. You might do a search for that. And while that "new guitar" buzz is still raging...there was the 12-string mate to yours that just ended unsold on Ebay. The guy was asking $800 for a starting bid and got 0 bids. Ray
