Guest pirateflynn Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Thank you! Oh man, it's a beauty.
Feynman Posted November 13, 2008 Author Posted November 13, 2008 Yeah, you know, two pics isn't exactly gonna cut it. :-)
sw686blue Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I love that guitar too. The master stroke ( ) is the location of the bridge...exactly, where it ought to be!
elduave Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 More than 2 pics:http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/index.p...=27157&st=0
Guest pirateflynn Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Thanks Mitch ..... that's really cool. I've been playing the Newport almost exclusively since a got it. I just broke out a Black Sunburst today for the first time in a long time. Here's a sweet picture taken by Elduave. I like it because it's shows the proportions accurately. The Newport is my favorite of the current Hamer line. And, it is an impressive line! Oops. Walked away from the computer for a couple of minutes and look what happens! Thank you guys. It's a great one and Elduave is a beauty.
Feynman Posted November 13, 2008 Author Posted November 13, 2008 Thanks! Man, I love that one. You have great taste!

ArnieZ Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I'm already on record on my lust for this one! My favorite photo is the one on the black fabric. This is the Newport I wish I had!ArnieZ
Guest pirateflynn Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 How does it compare to a studio custom? I'd say that they're in the same family but different enough to get one of each! In my opinion the Studio and Artist are pretty close. You could find an example of each that sound basically the same. The Newport is meant to be quite different with it's larger hollow body, especially when it has a Bigsby. Even set up like mine you could expect the Newport to sound bigger than a Studio, more air and maybe it's a little more versatile. Mine sounds like a snappier ES335, which is what I was going for.

GREAT! Thanks a lot pirateflynn, one more thing to pay for. I'm saving up for a pedal steel you know! ha ha......ah the GAS never ends. I'll have to try one out sometime. Do you find you're fiddling with the amp settings a lot when you switch between say a studio and the Newport? I like the idea of more "air". By that, do you mean, almost a little bit like the response from an acoustic? More dynamics, responsive to digging in? It's so hard to describe guitar sounds. rob
burningyen Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 That is such a beautiful guitar. I forget, does it have a solid center block or is it still hollow between the pickups like on regular Newports?
Guest pirateflynn Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Yes, it responses a bit more like an acoustic.... dynamics, etc. I added a maple top and a center block to make it a little more fundamental than a stock Newport. Burningyen - yes on the solid center block!
