santellavision Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 For Sale: 2008 Paul Reed Smith DGT David Grissom. Hard-to-find Goldtop with the RARE, now discontinued, Solid Abalone Birds. (I really dislike the new outline Birds) I'm the original owner. (Have to sell - wife recently lost her job) Near-Mint, Only lightly played in non-smoking home. 100% original - nothing changed or touched. No dings or dents or fretwear. Any marks in pictures are just reflections or glare. Featherweight at 8lbs 1oz! Plays great and sounds incredible. Neck shape is a tiny bit smaller than a Wide-Fat. The neck has a great 'worn-in' feel with rounded edges and perfect fret dressing. I hate to sell it, but mortgage payment is due. Original hard-case and all candy included. When you open the case, you'll think it was new. I originally paid $2,700 + shipping. (Some dealers are asking more as the Goldtops are impossible to find) Poof SOLD.
velorush Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 If I had $2,550 in the guitar account you'd be immediately without a guitar. I love the PRS DG! And the gold top is my favorite! Somebody buy this quick!
serial Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 That's COOL! Sorry to hear about your wife's situation. If I'd sold my Hamer Bird, I'd be all over this one.
Guest pirateflynn Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 The word on the street is that THIS is the PRS to have.
santellavision Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 The word on the street is that THIS is the PRS to have. Thanks for that. I have to agree. I've owned about a dozen PRS's including Private Stock #54 and this sounds better. It has a tone that I have never heard before. Growls with overtones at the touch.
santellavision Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 I have it listed a couple of other places and the emails are unbelievable. It's almost sold. The Traditional Birds thing is wild. I got a few emails from guys who said they don't offer the old solid Bird inlays anymore, just the weird outline ones. I don't like those at all.
Feynman Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 uncompromising what?LOL! I have never seen that before!
cmatthes Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Hands-down, my favorite current PRS model. I played a few prototypes in Stevensville a couple of years ago and was blown away. They got it right on those.(and then they decided to change the birds...)
santellavision Posted January 25, 2009 Author Posted January 25, 2009 As I was just told from a member of the Birds & Moons site. There were only 7 DGT's made with old Birds. Damn, I shouldn't have sold it!

Damn, I shouldn't have sold it!I knew they were rare, but at least 2 or 3 of the prototypes and early ones I played at the factory in the Fall of 2007 had the "old" birds (that's all they offered at the time). At some point in very early '08, they switched over to the outline birds. I'm sure that the BAM guys know more about the actual production numbers than I do, but I thought that they were building stock on those models before they phased out the full birds.Either way, I would have loved to have scored that guitar - those are fantastic.
