sonic1974 Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Here's a store in Toronto Canada, they ship worldwide, good reputation, but I've never been there. '81 $999 Canadian, approx $800 US. I have no affiliation with these guys. It's a good deal for Canadians, but for you Yanks, BCR Greg has a better deal. http://12fret.com/used/HamerSP.jpg
specialk Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Cool looking Special. Wish I could swing it....ON EDIT:Actually I probably could swing it, but I have to keep telling myself that I can't swing it...
Feynman Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 12th Fret is a good store I think. They have always been helpful to me, and often have some primo classicals and acoustics. However, wouldn't BCR Greg's $625 black badass '81 Special <---Click me be an even better deal? Plus, well, it's black, so it automatically sounds better. You'd have less to justify buying that one AND it would support one of our forum dealers. Just sayin' ... mostly so I can stop looking at it myself. Someone needs to buy that thing from Greg so I can sleep better.
sonic1974 Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 Not a crazy good deal - but a fair price.Actually you guys are both right, BCR Greg's special is a better deal. I was just happy to see a Hamer selling in Canada, they don't come around that often here. That store, the 12fret and a couple of others are the only ones. None in my town. Thank God all you crazy guys are always selling a bunch of awesome guitars!

specialk Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Congrats, Len! Looks like you got a good one. And, like Mitch, I no longer have to to look at that Black beauty of Greg's. Thanks, I think.... ON EDIT: That red one that's linked looks killer! Anyone know the neck profile of 81 Specials? I REALLY like Hamer necks of the mid 90s, not too wide and shallow, but not chunky either. Like that? ON EDIT AGAIN: As tempting as a Sustain Block Bridge is, I better just stick to mid 90s Hamers. There is just something about them...
Feynman Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Sleep Tight Mitch! Thanks, I think. That one was REALLY tempting.
Len Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Thanks Guys .... I couldn't pass it up ... It looks way too cool ...The Tempation and GAS Pains were killing me! I needed a 33rd guitar anyway.

Your a Van-city Canucks fan? I didn't even realize Americans were aware that that the NHL existed, except in Detroit. oh my lord.... I love the canucks ! always have... that and your toronto "make believes" [wonderful local lingo]are my only teams... though one from the midwest would be sore pressed to find better hockey in the states than the wings. wisconsin isnt exactly the shizzle for hockey... where as all the surrounding states love it... ILL having one NHL and 2 AHL teams...one would think that with it being snowy , cold , dreary and all that crap for roughly 7 moths out of the year here, that the native folk in wisc. would get it , yet even our farm team "now in the playoffs " and poised to win it all,. gets sh!t media coverage and lackluster crowds... you can keep baseball and football, there is only one mans sport and its on the ice... too bad I am one of the few in wisc. that gets it.. my wife commented last night that if I could bring my guns over the border... I'd fit right in fishing and loving hockey the way I do in canada.... I hope she was being nice ! who knows maybe the stars and moon one day line up and we get an nhl team .. I'd be inline for season tickets as we were seaons tickets in denver for the IHL grizzlies inaugural season and subsequent turner cup win !!! there have been grumblings for years that the IHL now AHL milwaukee admirals would eventually become an NHL team... but I "hear" the blackhawks have been paying money under the table for years to not do so... of course i cant confirm that story... but sucks in the interim. oh well... for now I am a canucklehead !
sonic1974 Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 hey Wait a second here man! My Toronto? Toronto does not belong to me at all man, them's fighting words! You must not know too many Canadians, otherwise you'd know if we don't live in Toronto, it's the national sport to hate it, until we move there for a higher paying job than available in any other city. The only more hated town in Canada, of course, is Ottawa, home of the gov't, where I live, and whom I work for. Besides, my name is Boudreau, it's french, and it's against the law for me to like the Leafs, not to mention my Dad would kill me. Actually I'm a Senators fan, and them it's the Habs after that. Is Wisconsin really that cold? What Canadian city is above it? As displayed in other posts, my American geography is pretty shaky. You guys got too many states to remember. 50, blah, we've only got ten provinces and nobody complains! Actually, WTF am I talking about? Everybody in Canada complains about everything all the time, that's our other national sport, right up there with wondering what the Americans think of us.............. ..............which everybody knows the answer is they don't think about us. ha ha!
peedenmark7 Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 sincerest apologies I thought you were in the toronto area.... agreed being from ottawa those would be major fightin words ! there arent any big canadian towns that I am aware of, to the direct north of us.. western ontario seems fairly rural, but I could be wrong. spent may a summer in vermilion bay fishing as a kid, spent a fair amount of time in b.c. on business back in the late 80s.... love toronto and have some friends up that way. I am aware of the love hate hockey thing, but being american I really cant relate, as its not our sport per say. I enjoy it fully and will watch pee wee hockey to get my fix if need be wisconsin can get real cold.. though nothing like you folks experience. the last 2 winters have been a real drag. they are the first real winters we've experienced in quite a while. so much for global warming. hey Wait a second here man! sonic1974 Posted April 20, 2009 Author Posted April 20, 2009 Yeah, you'll want to stay out of Ottawa in the winter for sure. If you're every here in the summer, come on down for Bluesfest in August and beer's on me! rob sincerest apologies I thought you were in the toronto area.... agreed being from ottawa those would be major fightin words ! there arent any big canadian towns that I am aware of, to the direct north of us.. western ontario seems fairly rural, but I could be wrong. spent may a summer in vermilion bay fishing as a kid, spent a fair amount of time in b.c. on business back in the late 80s.... love toronto and have some friends up that way. blackfbiv Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 you can keep baseball and football, there is only one mans sport and its on the ice... Yet another curling fan dares speak out loud? if we don't live in Toronto, it's the national sport to hate it That massive sucking noise you hear? It's Toronto. (the natural center of the known universe) Hmm maybe it's Calgary... What Canadian city is above it? Thunder Bay is directly north (on the north shore of Lake Superior) Winterpeg (Winnipeg) is north west. WI and MN might as well be part of Canada weather-wise.
peedenmark7 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 curling is a hoot... almost joined a league... but man, I could buy a new car for what a few years of that would cost you can keep baseball and football, there is only one mans sport and its on the ice...
