specialk Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I've never used it, but it came with the Crate amp I got recently. Unfortunately, the CD only had the PC version, not the Apple version.Anyway, it's on sale real cheap at MF:http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/produ...mp;src=3LMKWXX1

It's a nice, intuitive package. If I had any impending recording projects this offer would tempt me.-Jonathan
seeker Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Anyone else try Tracktion? I've been looking into since sk posted. If it's as easy as it seems, I'll probably jump on it.Got used to Pro Audio, but then they switched to a different engine. Have been thru the Pro Audio Lite and Cubase, and both drive me crazy. Since I don't record every week (or even month), have always had to relearn the later two each and every frickin time. Powerful, but just not intuitive. By the time I get the hang of it, the magic is gone.Edited to add: I ended up ordering via phone. For some reason, between the time that specialK posted and today, the -online- price went from 49.99 to 99.99. HOWEVER, if you order by phone, it's still pegged at the 49.99 price!

specialk Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 I d/led Tracktion 2 yesterday from Mackie for my Apple. I'm sorta used to GarageBand, but just looking through this Tracktion, I think I'm gonna become a fan. It runs well on my Apple, so I expect the Win version runs good on those. Fairly intuitive. That's good cuz I hate manuals. Every time I cursor over a part of the screen a help box pops up telling me what it is and how to use it in a project, etc.Really kinda nice. +1.ON EDIT:Congrats on getting it at the $49.99 price, Seeker. Funny how that link to MF now shows it at $99.99

specialk Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 Here it is for $49http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ndle?sku=701816Be careful. The one you linked to here is the PROJECT bundle. The original link was to the ULTIMATE bundle. The following link has a button to compare the different bundles:http://www.mackie.com/products/tracktion3/index.htmlThe Ultimate has it all! The Project bundle is the middle one and the Basic bundle is the least equipped one.
seeker Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 ON EDIT:Congrats on getting it at the $49.99 price, Seeker. Funny how that link to MF now shows it at $99.99Almost ordered it online, but wanted to find out the shipping options so I called their 800 number. The nice lady asked for the product number (#701815), and then told me the price was 49.99. Had her read back the name of the product to be sure, and sure enough it was the Ultimate Bundle. Ordered it immediately, LOL.
MR714 Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 My first attempt at computer recording was with Pro Tools and I had issues up the wazoo!!! I tried again when Mackie first introduced Tracktion. I've been with it ever since and yes I'm up to Tracktion 3 and loving it.I've never tried Garage Band or Cubase, but I'll recommend Tracktion anyday of the week!FYI - There is a rumor on the Mackie forums that Mackie is dumping Tracktion and not doing anymore recording software.
Chollie Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 i got the ultimate one a few months ago and loving it, all the bugs i had with my mixer were resolved and makes recording songs easy.
