eminor Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 FS: 1980 Hamer Special, with super nice top, all original, checkerboard headstock, sustain block bridge. Bought this because Steve Clark of Def Leppard used it back on the early albums, and sometimes live. 7/10 condition. A half dozen decent dings here and there, nothing affecting playability. Overall pretty glossy, nice and clean. Cool "Let it Go" vibe, from back during Hamer's early days. $900 shipped/paypal'd in OHSC. Feynman Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Paging Feynman! Paging Feynman!!! Yeah, that's badass. DeMartini always had great taste in graphics. My problem with a guitar like that is that if I walk out onto a stage (as if) sporting that thing, or an SRV sig, or a JEM, I'd be making a statement with my gear that I couldn't remotely back up with my fingers.

C'mon! Six strings and one knob, how hard can it be?
eminor Posted July 17, 2009 Author Posted July 17, 2009 Thanks all for the comments. I'm taking the Charvel off the market for a few days to collect my thoughts there and maybe regain my sanity. Supposedly it's the guitar Charvel used in all their ads as the teaser before that long wait for the production models to come out, and I was just playing it, and I'm thinking why am I selling this? But I've sold a lot of good guitars lately, and it might come back on the market. Just give me a few days to consider...Looks like the Charvel has a Custom Shop logo on the headstock that the production model doesn't have, and it does not have the Warren DeMartini signature or the other writing like the production model The serial number also would make it earlier than the production model. Still trying to figure out if the graphic is any different, but it seems the same. Hard to tell if the color is different. But the more things I find, the more likely I keep it. As for the Hamer, well, here's the video that made me buy this guitar...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsHTmHSqQEg
eminor Posted July 18, 2009 Author Posted July 18, 2009 Just decided to keep the Gibson and the Charvel. I'm sorry. The Hamer is still for sale.
eminor Posted July 20, 2009 Author Posted July 20, 2009 Guys, might have a deal on the Gibson for a fan of Petra after all. Hope that works out. The Hamer - here's the deal. I don't really want to mod it. If I keep it, I'd put in different pickups, as I've never liked the old Dimarzio PAFs in any guitars I've had. It's a great guitar from a great time in Hamer's history. Is my $900 too high? I want it to go to someone that values a guitar like this in original condition. But if it doesn't sell soon, I'll just keep it and change out the pickups for some WCRs.
