specialk Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Wow. Looks like Hamer history there. Best of luck with the sale!Sure have been a LOT of killer guitars popping up FS lately. On Edit... I can't make out what's engraved on the TRC. What does it say?
zorrow Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Yeah, you got a piece of history there. Good luck with the sale!
BubbaVO Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Sorry to hear about the circumstances of the sale. Someone is going to get a rkn'rll machine.
bubs_42 Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Awsome guitar, and Props to Biz he is great to deal with. Where TommyP? He needs this to match his Special.
bizzwriter Posted September 12, 2009 Author Posted September 12, 2009 Thanks for the comments guys. I checked the original ebay ad (I bought this guitar a bit over a year ago), and the guitar was refretted and the fingerboard planed to remove any finger indentations from YEARS of playing fun. LOTS of finish crazing, but no structural cracks or problems. I'll pull the backplate and check the solder joints made to make sure the pickups are original.special k: in answer to your question, the current trussrod cover says "Nigel Tufnel Custom," however, I'm keeping that one and putting back on the original TRC that says Vector in script.
Travis Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 That is a badass guitar and if I had the cash right now I would snap it up in a heartbeat. Best of luck with the sale.
memberzonly Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Hi,Any pics of the frets/freatboard/neck available showing the new fret job?
bizzwriter Posted September 12, 2009 Author Posted September 12, 2009 Hi, Any pics of the frets/freatboard/neck available showing the new fret job? I'll work on that this afternoon. Here's one shot from the original ebay ad:
zorrow Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Lemme tell ya, guys, for those who have never played one of these ole Vector things, the aged mahogany together with the Slammers and the sustainblock makes one of the most awesome sonic combinations ever. If you want tone (and I mean TONE in UPPERCASE), you want one of these, believe me.This one in particular got me GAS'ing for a while some time ago. Too bad I decided I'm not expanding my arsenal these days, because its nitro cracks and the cool finish give to it a lot of character.Once again, good luck with the sale. Someone is going to get a killer axe. ROCK IT HARD!
Siaip Ciuvas Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 jeeez, wish i wanted paddle headstock vector...
dogsrock Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Well this is my first post since I joined so I was kind of waiting till I had something to say. I bought daves green 81 vector last month and like zorrow says those old hamers have tone, a real special kind of crunch. A person couldn't go wrong picking up one of these.
bizzwriter Posted September 13, 2009 Author Posted September 13, 2009 Thanks again, guys for all the great comments! This is indeed a unique piece -- one you're not likely to see again anytime soon.I opened up the back cover and confirmed that the original solder joints (on the original Hamer volume and tone pots) are unbroken, so definitely the original pickups.
