santellavision Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 PRICE DROPPED $600 Shipped/PP'd Pretty Rare, Marshall JTM30 1x12" Combo. Super clean. Excellent condition. Works perfect. All original. These are hot, hot, hot right now after the killer article "Sleeper Amps" in Vintage Guitar Magazine. They truly sound killer. Considered the best clean tone Marshall has ever built. (The Overdrive channel roars too!) They are pretty hard to find as they were only built for 2-3 years. Here's one that is all original, no mods, no scratchy pots or jacks, and very low hours. New JJ 6L6 power tubes. (I replaced the original 5881's as recommended in the VG article) Tolex covering is really clean with only one tiny ding on the back bottom edge. Celestion G12 speaker. 2 channels, Master Volume, 3-spring Accutronics Reverb, EFX loop and Speaker Emulated output. It's a loud 30 watts, plenty enough to play in band/gig setting, plus it has an excellent sounding Master Volume for quieter use. Comes with a/c power cable and manual. (No footswitch, but any single-button, mono 1/4" cable, switch will work. I've tried one from another amp and it switches perfectly) Here's a link to the Vintage Guitar article: VG Article $600. Shipped/Paypal'd [email protected]
Siaip Ciuvas Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 this is one of the best options you can get if you want that classic Marshall sounds in combo version and not breaking the bank. I was chasing one for a year in europe, but since ended up with another option gave up. good luck with the sale and free bump!
santellavision Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 Thanks Siaip. Yeah, these are great sounding amps and easily compete with amps 3x as much.
killerteddybear Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 So the Studio 15 is no longer the only 6V6 amp that Marshall built?
Jorge Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 So the Studio 15 is no longer the only 6V6 amp that Marshall built?I believe the JTM30 uses the equivalent to 6L6's.I had one of these, cool amps.
santellavision Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 This JTM30 uses 2 actual 6L6s, not 6V6's.
killerteddybear Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Shows my lack of knowledge. I've been playing bass through solid state amps for so long that tubes are somewhat of a mystery to me... although I am learning!
gtone Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 This amp's in great shape for the vintage. Good luck with your sale!

BubbaVO Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 This amp gets a lot of good reviews. Somebody should pick it up.
Disturber Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Considered the best clean tone Marshall has ever built. No, it is not considered the best clean Marshall ever built. The no 1 best clean Marshall is the late 70's early 80's Marshall 4140 Club & Country. pretty much Marshalls take on the Fender Twin, built to compete on the Nashville market. Killer clean tones and a marvelous reverb.2nd best would be the early 70's Marshall Artiste combos. They have a very vintage bluesy clean sound that is outstanding. They do not have much gain though, but take pedals like a dream. The JTM30 might be a good amp, but they are nothing like theses two. The JTM30 and 60 were a lower budget series.
santellavision Posted October 17, 2009 Author Posted October 17, 2009 I respect Andy Brauer as he's one of the best amp techs in the world and has owned, repaired and played most all Marshalls. He's more than well respected. If he thinks it was the best clean tones, that good enough for me! I guess it's in the ear of the beholder. Did you read the VG article?
Disturber Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 I respect Andy Brauer as he's one of the best amp techs in the world and has owned, repaired and played most all Marshalls. He's more than well respected. If he thinks it was the best clean tones, that good enough for me! I guess it's in the ear of the beholder. Did you read the VG article?Yes I checked out the link. I have played the JTM30 and I have nothing bad to say about how it sounded distorted. But my preferences for a good clean sound is not the same as Andy's I guess. I tend to like a more expensive sounding Fender like sound. And also, the stock speaker in the JTM30 is not a great speaker for good cleans in my opinion, but he is entitled to his opinion. Had he written "good cleans" or even "great cleans" then I would not have reacted. But "best cleans", I don't know... I am sorry if I turned your thread in another direction. But the amp was sold, so I thought it might be okay to post an opinion...These amps are a bang for the buck, no doubt about that. I love Marshall combos and could consider buying one of these as a spare amp to toy around with, if I found one locally at a good price. They look sharp too.
bubs_42 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Congrats, speaking of there is a Marshall 4140 Club & Country on ebay right now.
