'81 Hamer Special - SOLD

Wow. You guys don't mess around. I'm already getting IMs about the $tree-fitty Hamer Special I mentioned in my PAF sale post. Guess I'd better get an ad up.

I'm consolidating my guitar collection and decided that it's time for my '81 Hamer Special to go. I bought it from Hamerhead not quite a year ago. It was missing two pots and it didn't have pickups or a pickup switch. I had my pal Scott Lentz install the missing stuff, put in an old PAF and Pat# pickup, and wire everything up.

I'm selling the guitar -- MINUS the pickups, but with a BEAT old Hamer Special case -- for $350 paypaled local pickup (San Diego area) or $350 paypaled plus shipping to the destination of your choice anywhere in the universe. Just drop in the pickups of your choice and you're good to go.

One quick warning: this Special has got a SKINNY '81 neck. I measured it with my caliper today and it's 1 5/8" across the nut, and the neck is 3/4" thick at the 1st fret, and 7/8" thick at the 12th fret. Plays like buttah, though, and the mahogany body resonates like crazy.

Here are a few threads regarding the guitar/case's recent history, and a few pix below that:

So...is the Special still available?

Well, eightyfour pm'd me last night and said "I'm in" -- before I posted the ad and pix. I'll check to see if he's still "in" now that the ad is up. Other than that, no one has yet said "I'll take it!"

If anyone is interested, post that you'll take it. I'll go in order after I hear back from eightyfour.

Thanks!

Soooo... it's been refinished? Is the serial still intact?

Actually, it appears to have the original finish. It's got lots of fine cracks in the lacquer (NOT in the wood) that you'd expect to see in a 30-year-old guitar. There's a mysterious "melty" area on the back there where the wood is exposed (see photo). Serial # is intact -- here's a photo.

After talking it over with my "accountant" its in my best interest to not bring any more guitars home at this time (insert whip cracking sound here) ;) ....damn... hope it goes quickly

Money's sent. Cool, now I have TWO project guitars and a couple to sell. Hmmm. should I try to get some Dimarzio PAFs or go with some GFS Dream 90s? I'm a single coil guy but maybe the Dimarzio's would sound nice with the sustain block and super-resonant body and skinny neck...
