KeyOfZ Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Cool A$$ Monaco *Edit* And a nice Studio too! Nice Studio
ET_KenW Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 I have this one as my background on my work computer.Swimming pool.
Luke Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 I have this one as my background on my work computer.Swimming pool. I've considered pulling the trigger on that one myself numerous times, if it had gold hardware it would be a non-issue, it would be here already.
Riffmonger Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 I'd have to say that Willcutt is kicking every dealers ass out there. Why custom order any more? They usually have what you want on their site.
BCR Greg Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 My ass isn't kicked.Willcutt's have been getting some GREAT guitars, without a doubt. But many of us are doing just fine.
KeyOfZ Posted August 16, 2005 Author Posted August 16, 2005 Without trying to get my lips anywhere near Gregs arse..... I will say that most of the coolest custom orders have come from BCRGreg. ELDuave has had some badass ones as well. (Wipes lips....) Patoowie!
tgoss Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 I haven't seen any of their repair work but I have seen yours, Greg and it's great.
anotherfreak2 Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Willcutt's have been getting some GREAT guitars, without a doubt. But many of us are doing just fine. +1
serial Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Wilcutt's stock is impressive (and really deep), but the thing that knocks me out is (as mentioned above) the one-off wild and wacky stuff like matching B08/B12Ms, Electraglide IIs, silver sparkle mahogany Standards, kerry green mahogany Vectors, Silentman Watsons, chambered Standards, the tuxedo Phantom, etc. Personally, I don't like the ten crown or Victory inlays, which seems to be a staple in the Wilcutt stuff and I have no use/need for a Brazilian board, but they have TONS of stuff and lotsa neat eye candy and it is great to see that stuff being ordered. Obviously, judging from the customs that I've ordered, I have "unique" (ok, say whacked-out) taste and for a dealer to have just what I wanted in a new guitar in stock would be pretty rare.
Jack C Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Obviously, judging from the customs that I've ordered, I have "unique" (ok, say whacked-out) taste and for a dealer to have just what I wanted in a new guitar in stock would be pretty rare. Yeah, I don't see many dealers stocking powder-blue or other pastel colored Hamers any time soon. (Not that there's anything wrong with that).
serial Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 That's 'cause their phones would ring off the hook and people'd want them to be open 24/7 just to gawk at them beauties. Oh yeah, I forgot the baby blue over korina.
BCR Greg Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Too bad the HFC Memberpages are wasted. I was going to post pics of all of the wacky one offs that we have done, but I don't feel like loading up a Photobucket site if the memberpages may come back......
Mike_C Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 I'd have to say that Willcutt is kicking every dealers ass out there. Why custom order any more? They usually have what you want on their site.Willcutt has a nice inventory but it's about music not kicking butts. As for custom ordering sometimes you can't get what you want from a dealer stock no matter how cool. I've gotten some great customs orders and Have been happy with each and every one. Cool guitars rule that should be the only criteria.
SirDouglas Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Willcutt can kiss MY ass..... iwent to Greg because they dicked around tolong in getting my order in... Greg got it done the next day..... therefore... Greg will ALWAYS get my money and he will always get what i want done... wait til you see "Lisa's" Twin when it gets done haha.... Willcutt HA #1 dealer.... BAH... volume is one thing.... quality SERVICE is another..... GET EM GREG!!!!! Sir Douglas Randy
serial Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 I had Greg do my custom orders because he understood my twisted visions and didn't try to talk me out of any of them, but did offer legitimate suggestions that made the overall experience much better. He also offered illicit suggestions, but I declined.
Riffmonger Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 My point was that Willcutt has these guitars IN STOCK. I wasn't talking about custom orders via a customer. How many other dealers are carrying these types of guitars with gold hardware, BRZ fretboards, matching headstocks, custom colors and the like IN STOCK? Most other dealers are carrying generic stock guitars. That was my point.
SirDouglas Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 My point is on top of my head because im looking sharp today HAHAHA but yes you do make a valid point Riff... yes they do have them in stock.... and a nice selection of them.... thats where i got my 1 of 4 1 peice korina standards from and they proceeded to rape me on shipping charges ( but thats another story) but other than that yes they have nice selection of gee tars not normally available at the hole in the wall local music store.... or the nearest GC to (insert where you live here).... next question! haha Sir Douglas Randy
ac15 Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 I bought the Monaco III in the first link below from Wilcutt, based on the fact that most dealers have only the red or natural (which I also like) in stock and Wilcutt had this tobacco sunburst model, which I liked. I dealt with Eric who was great to deal with and got the guitar to me within a couple days. http://www.willcuttguitars.com/details.asp?stock_id=3533I will say though, that when I got the guitar, I found that the finish looks more like this one "in person." http://www.willcuttguitars.com/details.asp?stock_id=2929Nonetheless, I'm happy with the way everything turned out and would buy from them again.Steve
Roxie Fan Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 In regards to the first Monaco M3 with maple top...BEWARE, I custom ordered a goldtop maple M3 with a special wiring job. Although exquisite to look at andimpeccably built, the tone was thin, lacking substance and fed back like a squealing pig at med. high volume. Who knows, chalk it up to the so so Duncan pickpups, bad wiring concept combined with a bright maple top. Sold her after a month and she's already been passed round like a drunk sorority girl at her first rush party. Shame as it's the best looking M3 I've ever seen. I really think hte Spruce is an important component to the M3. Now a humbuckers on a maple Monaco like Badger Dave's goldtop is another story...
