ArnieZ Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 First off, I will really miss the open house this year, which I had planned on attending.Having said that I gotta say Hamer owes me nothing! I love their guitars and appreciate all the opportunities I have had to get more personally familiar with the folks that run the company. I don't think they owe us an explanation for not having an open house event this year. Only Hamer knows the reasons behind their decsion and they have no obligation to share them. They provided a rationale for their decision which you can choose to believe or not. All else is purely speculation.....ArnieZ
Guest Mike Lee Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I find it interesting that some of the people that are doing a lot of complaining about all of this have never even been to an Open House, or a regional jam event.I liked Hamer guitars before the HFC and Open Houses because they offered better quality guitars at fair prices compared to their compeititors. And they will build lefties for me when I want to order them, not when they get around to doing a lefty run with limied options like most other manufacturers (if they make lefties at all). And this was all before I knew who Kim, Frank, and Frank were, and when Jol was just a name mentioned in a GP review. I still like Hamer. The prices have gone up, but it's still the best deal going IMO. Sure there are high end alternatives, but on an apples to apples comparison Hamers are still less expensive. And I will probably still like Hamer even if there are no more Open Houses or even no more HFC. It's all about the product! The rest of it is all gravy. If you like something else, buy it. To be honest, I was kind of relieved that there is no Open House this year. I've been to the last 5 and was thinking about taking a break, but I didn't want to miss seeing everyone either. Now I get my break and don't have to miss anything.
elduave Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 While I can see why the question would be asked, I'm personally just plain thankful that I can hang a new Hamer USA guitar in my store, and get the support needed from the company to do what's good for my business. They don't owe me jack. When I *do* get hit with a "no we won't make TLE's" or "sorry, no Open House this year" all I have to do is think of the perks of being a Kaman dealer and becoming friends with my rep., Frank Ciavarro, and the sting is quickly relieved. I mean, hey. It beats having nothing but First Act guitar kits on the floor. That's not where I want to be...
cmatthes Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 Totally. And think of all the COOL stuff that they DO make and you and the other dealers get to order for all of us!
phoenix Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I called Jol and Frank directly about the tour. As mentioned earlier, it was too many custom runs that the dealers wanted to spring for full effect without others copying them midstream. More interesting were the discussions and plans to have the whole get-together, jam etc at the same time and place and Jol and others might attend. Jol cited that his Porche fan club does it all the time without waiting for the company to schedule it. So....Shouldnt we focus on:Getting togetherAll the cool people we have met in past years. The royal treatment and interraction that NO other 30 year old guitar company provides. The fact that we had a large hand in focusing them on affordable "Private Stocks" by all our custom orders.I love Hamer and all the guys I have met. I am thrilled that they are returning to their rightful place in the guitar world.Do I take the recent lack of communication, and offering NEW dealers options they have refused me for years, a bit personally? Yes, until I remember that I'm the one who wished them success and am grateful for all the extra things they HAVE done. steve

mudshark Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 I've never been to the open house and tour and I've never bought a new Hamer. I play'em 'cause they're nice guitars. I could give a shit what the compay does with the tour.
