hamerhead Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I picked up a BBE Two Timer delay pedal that lets you switch between a short delay and a long delay. It works great but - the longest delay is 330ms, and there are no volume controls for each delay, just the standard 'mix' control (I like the long delay to be louder than the slapback). Is there anything out there that'll do 2 delays AND have maybe 450-500ms delay time?
Ethan Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Why don't you get something with a tap tempo control so you can set it how you want it for any song? Tech 21 Boost DLA, Boss DD5 and DD7, Line 6 Echo Park and Strymon El Capistan have this function...
Frank Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Visual Sound H2O has up to 800ms of delay and a short long switch. It also includes the chorus in the same housing.
zenmindbeginner Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Digitech Time Bender or Boss DD-20 perhaps? They both do some sick ass shit.
geoff_hartwell Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 The H20 and the Echo Park are both cheap (about $100), but noisy. Audible buzz and hum at all times. The TC Electronics Nova Repeater (NOT Nova Delay) is the shizzle. Clean, quiet, awesome, and only about $150. It has all the capabilities and sound quality of the TC 2290, and butt-simple knob control, with tap tempo etc. I originally bought the Nova Delay but didn't have any need for patch programming and the extra bells and menus. So the Repeater was a better choice for me. You can also have actual Dual Delay a la the Edge, or just simple slapback, mod delay, synced triplets... And it runs off the standard simple boss-style adapter. Geoff
hamerhead Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I've checked them (and a few others) out and learned: 1. There's a sh!tload of delays out there. 2. Prices go all the way up to 'holy crap!". 3. I'm not a 'tap-tempo' guy. 4. Not being a 'tap tempo guy' limits your choices. 5. Those choices have prices that go all the way up to 'holy crap!". I'm narrowing it down: 1. Under $200 would be good great. 2. Two settable times a must. 3. Individual volume controls would be really nice, but not a must. 4. A smaller footprint would be helpful. 5. Under $200 would be good great. Not asking too much, right? At this point I'm leaning towards: Leila Softdelay (when they're available) Danelectro PB&J (simple, cheap, and Dano delays sound really good) There were a couple more, but my brain fried. I might end up using 2 separate delays, but that would suck more. Keep 'em coming!!
burningyen Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 The H20 and the Echo Park are both cheap (about $100), but noisy. Audible buzz and hum at all times.I had no noise with my old Echo Park, with my PP2. I hear they can have issues with certain power supplies. The DL-4 obviously can be set to do 4 different delays. Also, in the space of many delay pedals you could fit 2 Guyatone MD-3s, which are excellent.
