coolfeel Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Came across Robbin Crosby's post RATT project titled Secret Service. Actually he was part of the group sometime before RATT and then recorded some of their music after RATT I believe sometime in 1992. I can't remember if he joined up with RATT after that again.
Crimsontider Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Ratt's writing deteriorated with the deterioration of Crosby. He was like the Steve Clark of Ratt who helped define the early sound with deeper writing as compared to more technical aged sounding "Hot Chops" to come.Sweat Cheater over Way Cool Jr. any day.Great link.
jettster Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Robin passed in '02 pretty sad story if anyone is interested in reading someone who spent some time with him towards the end. http://www.80sxchange.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33224
Disturber Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 That was interesting, but pretty ordinary MOR. A bit disappointing. The guitarsolo sounds like Crosby though, cool . Singer sounds like a bad copy of Sammy Hagar. I think Ratt did some great "deeper writing" on the 1999 album. Unfortunately it did not do so well, but I like it better than the latest one. It looks like Sep has f*cked the Ratt gang again now as he is releasing tour dates for this comming summer as a solo artist, instead of touring with Ratt. He's a weird one that guy.
Armitage Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Detonator is one of my fav albums tone wise, period, but Ratt couldn't write a lyric to save their lives.

edgar_allan_poe Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 The band with the WORST singer in history. Dude *talked* the vocal lines the time I saw them play, it was a friggin joke.
Crimsontider Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 The band with the WORST singer in history. Dude *talked* the vocal lines the time I saw them play, it was a friggin joke. His singing style must have been bad on the voice because it was going downhill rapidly by the third album (D.U). Just about any live clip of Ratt is horrible due to Pearcy not being able to sing after the first couple of shows of a tour, so yes, he would talk the lines, or sing in and out of octaves to bad results. I finally ran across something good recently. It is from the Out of the Cellar days, and is the only time that Pearcy sounds good to me.
Armitage Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 I loved his voice on the first Arcade CD... I've never seen him live... I met Dimartini once... shaking his hand was like a handful of wet noodles... it was gross.
jettster Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Never though of Pearcy as a great singer even in the studio but, I thought his vocals were a good fit for the band. I had to buy serveral copies of "Out of the cellar" from playing it so much. That and "Tooth and Nail" were my music nirvana back in 84' or so. I love me some Ratt, even thought the new one was pretty damn good too.
