Wrecks Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 I wonder if the pilot turned off the "No Smoking" light?
BTMN Posted September 22, 2005 Author Posted September 22, 2005 Now that was sweet! Life IS Good! This was started while Flt.292 was getting prepared to crash land at LAX in case you open this later tonight! Carry On Men!
DavidE Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 My wife was watching and I caught it about 10 minutes until the end. I found it morbid knowing that Larry King was hoping for a crash for good television. As the aviation experts said, it was an emergency landing, not a crash. And the pilot did a great job.
Cary Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 VERY nice. Wonder how many people had a life-altering experience in those three hours they circled, wondering if they were going to die. I can't imagine the emotions they must have felt.Thank God they made it.
Buzzy Fretts Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 About a month after the Suix City fireball crash that occured after the plane's hyraulics were severed, I was on a plane for LA that reported losing hydraulics about 45 minutes into the flight. We diverted to Cleavland and along the way dumped some serious fuel over PA. We had about an hour to consider the situation, with the recent crash still fresh in our minds. When we landed they had about a dozen firetrucks lined up along the runway. Slow news day that it was, we didn't manage to blow up or anything. What a trip. I hooked up with the girl sitting next to me when we finally got to LA. We were both so damn glad to be alive we had to celebrate!
Submariner85 Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Awesome. That pilot deserves a medal or something. If you want to watch it, go here:http://www.tampabays10.com/video/player.as...21619&sid=19153
billhart22 Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 When I worked at Boeing, for experimental flightest and engineering, we used to do those landings 3 times a day, just for drill. The pilots would sheer the wheel literally in half...part of proving an airplane. I worked with the experimental engineers in the windtunnel and was responsible for checking the damage after flight.Bill

If I thought I had like one hour to live, I would have joined the mile high club
MrGuitarguy Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 You waited until AFTER you landed to hook up? If I thought I had like one hour to live, I would have joined the mile high club Ditto!

(sigh) She was too busy asking me how come the large nozzels on each wing were spewing liquid. Our seats were right on the wing and she was, um.... very distracted.
Caddie Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 I hooked up with the girl sitting next to me when we finally got to LA. We were both so damn glad to be alive we had to celebrate! Congratulations on your "safe landing". ;-) How come the seat next to me is always filled with the chubby office products salesman from Pittsburgh? You know the one, he was played by John Candy in Planes, Trains & Automobiles. Noonan
ArnieZ Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 So happy that plane landed safely, I thought it would be ok when they said it was the front gear only. Many kudos to the pilot and staff on that plane, very very well done!ArnieZ
