RichRS6 Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Spotted this a couple of days ago had some contact with the seller but we don't share a common language and google translator sucks. It looks like its had a poor headstock repair and (I don't know much about this model) possibly a trem removed and stop T/P fitted. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230726511895?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1076wt_406Could be a good project, whats it worth if it was in good condition?
gtone Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Hmmm, very interesting - the wheels are turning. Thanks for posting this.
gorch Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Checked the auction for you fellows. It tells it is a restoration. However, the poor pics suggest a serious and poorly repaired/finished neck brake. Q&A section confirms this. It also seems to have regular humbuckers in there. Comes with OHC.If you want me to ask the seller detailed questions, I will do that happily.
murkat Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 it still bad ass.don't see too many of these.sad about the mods, poor repair.
RichRS6 Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 Would it have had a Trem system fitted originally as it has a backplate on there which suggests it did have at some time.EDIT. He has now posted a pic of the trem cavity which looks like the hole in the top has been filled. As Murkat says there don't seem to be too many of these around to compare it with.I emailed for more pics but he just sent the same pics from the ebay ad which are pants. Thanks for the offer of help Gorch, I may take you up on that.
gtone Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Hey Gorch! The seller's E-Bay rating and feedback look somewhat sketchy - could you give us some idea of the issues he's had in the past? Also, does he appear to flip a lot of guitars? Private or commercial seller? Thanks in advance Dirk.

Comes with OHC.I'm not sure 'restoration' is the correct term here LoLFor info to people who may not be that aware of this model it would have originally come with a non recessed floyd and the twin humbuckers are an original feature, they didn't come with the mini's like Gobsin's. The headstocks are pretty fragile hence i don't even take my imaculate one out of the case !

I'm not fluent in German (and have no connection to the seller) but looking at the feedback he seems to have sold quite a few guitars via ebay and has been a member since 2004. His negative feedback was over a cheap acoustic guitar (sold without a case) which arrived with a broken bridge. Anyone got any nice pics of these guitars or should i start a firebird appreciation thread !
Bobby Marshall Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Wow. I guess you don't have to worry about her breaking during shipment.

Also, does he appear to flip a lot of guitars? Private or commercial seller? Thanks in advance Dirk. Ok, I've checked his ratings and feedback. As it can be seen from the auction description, the seller is not fully exact with item descriptions. There are feedbacks reflecting exactly this. The one minus feedback stays aside, but reflecting the same thing. That doesn't say he's not a serious seller in terms of money handling and shipping. Most feedback reflects him to be serious on that very important side. He's shipped to Italy twice in the past and Brazil recently all with positive feedback. Since it has been identified that the guitar's refurbishment rather would be a poorly repaired neck brake everything on the item has been said. He seems to be a private seller as he doesn't have the usual Germany corporate declarations added. The auction is declared to be private. Yes, he flips quite a lot of guitars. Currently three such items on auction. All personal impressions. Did that help?

One word of warning, if you are the other side of the pond you'll have trouble shipping it via a normal (DHL / UPS etc) carrier as the case is bigger than their maximum sizes so you'll have to look at aircargo or a specialist forwarder.
RichRS6 Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Anyone in for this its ending in 10 Mins...............I'm not bidding BTW.P.S. No connection to the seller.
gorch Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 "311" That's a deal. Whatever it costs to refurbish the guitar properly. The shape is seldom which makes it worth it.
gerry Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 i think it has too many issues therefore that price. you´d probably in the end at a price level where you could buy a nice firebird.
RichRS6 Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 Less than $400.00 though for a pretty rare bird (First one i've ever seen for sale, even on here) so if you had the skills to do the repairs yourself it could be a nice player.Anyone here taking it on ?EDIT Whoo hoo just reached 100 posts !
Disturber Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 That one was a mess. I can not do any of the work myself needed to fix all of that. And he refused to post a close up pic of the front of the body. I assume that the new bridge might have been poorly installed, and perhaps plugging the hole after the Floyd was badly done as well, and the re-fin might have been poorly done - who knows? To pay for a full restauration, inkluding fixing the headstock properly and perhaps a fret work, and definately a new paint job - for me the total amount would have ended on a mimimum of 1 000 Euro, probably more. And there might be more unpleasant "surprises" that shows up when the guitar is inspectet on close range. Not worth the risk in my book. Might be worth it for someone who skilled enough to do most of the work himself.
