kizanski Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 When I find out for sure I'll post. However, I believe it to be a "circa 82" special. Several things point to that. No, I'm sure the guitar you posted is a USA Hamer. The one I posted was Korean, and was only posted as a joke. The "Mystery Hamer" that Jimbilly posted is also most-likely a USA (3 piece neck, one piece body). Although, i'd also have to classify that particular guitar as "ruined."

Certainly not worth as much as an unadulterated FM, but for a lower price, I think that I could go for the matching headstock. Changing the stoptail back would be a simple fix.
David B Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 Mystery Hamer by Jimbilly is USA (12th fret dots are close together)

Rockola Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 nice score Steve! Send it to Stike for a Ranger bass boat metalflake...The mystery Hamer is too sad. Should be called The Eunuch Hamer.

SteveE9C6 Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Received email from the seller. The guitar is a USA Special... and on it's way! I can't wait. Now if I can just find a Standard at that price;)
Michael_ Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 The guitar Jimbilly posted is either not a Hamer or has been retopped - there is no fourth hole where the toggle switch used to be and there is no evidence of one having been filled. Also, the headstock has a maple cap on it, that seems a little weird. I'm in touch with the seller, if I can get him down some and be pretty sure its a US Hamer I might just buy it anyway.
Submariner85 Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Just wondering. Was there a neck repair done on that?
