Am I missing out on something here? (Mesa content)

A guy has been listing this on CL for a bit now and is down to $300. I don't know enough to know if it's a good deal or even something I would like. Last few years I have been using the different 5 watt import tube heads into a short stack. Currently running a Vox ac4 or Blackstar 5. I use an early Crybaby & a Fender spring reverb. And sometimes add a multi-effects board. Usually I hide at home by myself but lately have been messing around with some old friends. NO we're not a garage band, we play in his basement. My fivers are having trouble keeping up with the electric drummer .

Mostly I attempt to sound like pre-metal rock, 12 bar blues and maybe a little country.

Any and all input will be appreciated.

Thanks Doug

I have no experience of this Boogie but for $300 it's got to be worth checking out and at 20W it should be easily loud enough, if you don't like it sell on.

If it was local to me I would have it in a flash.

Since it's a local sale for you, you can check it out and probably plug it in to see if you like it. If the only things wrong are a missing knob and a little dirt, this is a smokin' deal. I just checked ended auctions on eBay, and all the used Subway 20s went for $400-500 plus $50-60 shipping, except one went for $285 because the seller said it wasn't working right.

Sometimes a great deal falls into your lap and you can lose the opportunity by second-guessing. I picked up a Mesa Dual-Calibre DC-10 for $299 in a pawnshop once and I have a Guild Pilot Pro bass (USA model) that I picked up at a GC for $99.

The Subways sound great with Strats and Teles, and I suspect so would your Blueshawk.

What Tom said. I own it's milder, non-MV cousin, the Subway Blues (background at left - only decent photo I have available at work):

From what I understand, the Rocket is the fire-breathing alternative. I'd definitely check it out for $300. My Subway Blues will most definitely keep up with a drummer, so I would think the Rocket would have the same or better capability. The Blues also has a line out, so if you're competing with an electronic drummer, you can run direct to PA just like him and control relative levels from the board. Another great thing is the SB weighs just over 30 lbs., so it's guitar in one hand, amp in the other and you're good to go.

So to answer the OP's question the consensus of opinion seems to be YES, you are missing out !

Go and check it out if its working ok and sounds good to you then buy it quick and let us all know what you think !

If I saw one local to me for less than £200.00 and could go try it out I would have it as it would make a great spare, if you decide you don't like it then move it on.

I just got a call back from the guy and he had sold the amp. That's what happens when I hem-&-haw.

Thanks to all for your input.
