Crimsontider Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 Being a software Tech I feel a little bad that I can't find the input device, but I would be great full if you could give me a quick 1. 2. 3. from this picture.
mathman Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Amplitube will work with any imput. Just go to the audio/midi setup prefs in the stand alone or set up your DAW to accept the input you are using. I used to use it with my mac's line in until I got a firewire interface. I go to "settings" at the top click on "audio MIDI setup.." And a panel pops up. I can set it to ASIO and my sound card but the the only input at the bottom is MIDI, I cannot find a "line in" or anything that will make it work in stand alone. Using with FL Studio defaults to its setting where i can select my analog input for the one channel the guitar is coming through. It's not a problem, but it would be nice to use without my host. Is there more setting's that I might be missing? Here is a screen shot of the input for standalone In the window above where it shows the sb audigy asio. Click there and see if you have any other inputs. Whatever you choose there is the input that amplitube will use. If the audigy is the input you are using you may have to use control panel sound input to choose the correct input. The input volume level control there above the lock/preferences/info/userarea buttons is very important to watch. You can overdrive your signal in if that is peaking. It is another way to get distortion but it won't be quite as responsive as you can achieve using the amp volume controls.
Crimsontider Posted July 28, 2013 Author Posted July 28, 2013 Thanks, I will check those. Very true about the input and output volumes. I always keep the input as low as possible just to keep out background noise. Not sure if it's the same with midi input, but with the line in and preamp I use, the presets with Amplitube can vary in strength and volume, so you have to balance the in and out to get the best sound without pushing it in the red or getting white noise. I find the noise gate very useful with effects laden setups. I pretty much just build from scratch these days. So many amps. cabins and effects that you can replicate just about anything with a decent guitar. But I have found you need a preamp with a little distortion to get authentic heavy distortion (at least with my setup), which I suppose is why many use a distortion pedal as a preamp. I tend to over due it though.
Crimsontider Posted July 28, 2013 Author Posted July 28, 2013 Here's a link to some audio with a Hamer. The Kiss tune's rhythm track is my Studio Custom Electraglide II. Don't remember if the lead is a '61 SG/LP Junior or Guild Bluesbird. Pretty sure it's the Guild, but then part of it sounds like the Jr... Should've written that stuff down, but it was a quick-assed recording for a demo, so not a lot of thought went into it."http://m.reverbnation.com/artist/thatswhatshesaidtheband"These are some great cover's. The guitar on the Kiss cover and drumming on the Crue's version of Helter Skelter stood out. I'd pay money to see you, that's for sure.
gorch Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Latest recording of what I like to play through the Rockman XPR, some 3-voiced lead and rhythm. Well, I play it with any Hamer I have. Eventually, this recording was done with the Scheithauer Bo Diddley Red Special. The Tally and Standard Custom both sound evenly fantastic through the rig.https://soundcloud.com/gorch_de/come-on-lets-tattle
gorch Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Just got Logic Pro X ( I was able to get a refund for my Logic 9 purchase!) I love it.Here is a new version of Fool for your Stockingshttps://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88221982/Fool%20for%20your%20Stockings%20KP.mpSounds great. What part is not the backing, the guitars and bass? Are you singing? Regardless it sounds good and I know you are having a good time with it. These home computer digital audio work stations have revolutionized everything. The only draw back is a lot of the junk you here in the radio (if you listen) is created by people patching stuff together, and it losses it's analog flow. Nearly all TV commercials are made strictly with DAW's and vsti's.The backing track is drums, bass, and organ. I am doing all guitar and singing.Well done! I like that.
gorch Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 While this is not at the same standards as mathman, I wanted to post something made with a new amp inside the amp sim Amplitube 3 I just obtained.Made in FL Studio on my PC.Guitar (MIK Cali SS)plugged into sound card (only real instrument)Drums, bass and keyboard parts are tapped out live with a cheap Midi Keyboard running to some virtual instruments in FL Studio.I did not edit in anyway, bad notes, off beats and all!http://compusouth.net/music/2.mp3That sounds really good. Nice turn into the rocking part.

You did a good job of picking various snippets.Besides having it's own sound, it is perfect for emulating several Gibson models. Good sustain, I thought I heard a Spinal Tap rif in their somewhere too.

You can tell that you have a wide deep scope in rock/blues.
mathman Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Just having some fun trying to redo some cover tunes. Hammer to Fall by Queen. Backing track from Guitarbacktracks.com. Me rhythm and lead with all the vocals. Trying to do some harmonies by myself. It's fun to try to do these.https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88221982/New%20Hammer%20To%20Fall-%209_28_13%204.00%20PM.mp3

Also cudos for attempting to emulate Mercury, that takes some confidence. You have the production down. Do you record for other people, or just a hobby? Here is a sloppy COPY of Zep'S R&R as I have absorbed it from the live versions.http://compusouth.net/a/RR.mp3
gorch Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 I really like this thread. It helps me to put my own playing into context within all the perfect commercial productions listening to all day.

Great sounding guitar, modern metal sounding dropped tuned but not pushed over the edge to where the great characteristics of the guitar are lost. The 2nd chorus/bridge is a pleasant dynamic shift. If I heard this one the alternative radio, would think, wow, who's that? Now I know. A+
mathman Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 An older song remixed in Logic. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88221982/Saying%20Goodbye.mp3
