Here is a clip I did today on my Super Pro. I had asked Geoff for advice on the 80's Hamer Slammers. Based on that I installed a pair of 10K Hamer Slammers in the Super Pro last weekend,

and I recorded this so he could hear how it turned out. However, he thought I should post it here. So you can blame him for having to suffer through one and a half minute of my shitty playing.

Here it goes:

http://www.soundclic...8&q=hi&newref=1

This is how it sounds through a Marshall 2104. Not to dimed - Master on quarter to twelve. Vol on around noon.

I have a G12-65 and a G12H-30 70 Anniversary in the combo. I put the mike infront of the G12H-30.

I just tried to record "how it sounds" at home in the basement when the rest of the family was out for an hour. I put up the Zoom H2 in front of the amp. No fine tuning of the mic position,

it was all hastily done. Turned out okay none the less.

Super Pro with 10 K Slammer Hamer pickups. I had a pair of early 80s Dimarzio Pafs in it earlier, (one Hamer OEM), with degaused A2 mags. However they did not drive the Marshall enough, sounded great through the Deluxe Reverb. The 10K Slammers sounds great through both amps. I air bucked the bridge pup with two layers of electrical tape, to soften the attack of the A5 a bit.

It's bridge pup first, then neck, then back to bridge and it ends with the neck pup.

This are great sounding pups. Great frequency for nice tight riffs, chunky rhythm's and piecing leads, if needed. I need to do some research on these.

Here's one I did a few years ago. Still needs some fine tuning.

This is a song I just recorded last night. Every sound you hear is electric guitar. It's something of a tribute to the late, great, Les Paul - but in my own style. I used my Gibson Firebird with a Lollar neck pickup and full sized Bare Knuckles bridge humbucker. I am playing into a 70s Princeton reverb and utilized a very old rat pedal and a tubescreamer. No processing other than multi-tracking going on. I overdubbed everything. Enjoy!

Cool. Is that a new Genre? With it having nothing to do with metal, I can tell that you have listened to the a lot of metal guitarist. Do I hear Maiden influence?

It would seem that you listened to 70's music when you were coming of age. Neil Young, Pink Floyd and some other rock groups, maybe some psychedelic that use acoustic. I would love to add some Mellotron to this :)

Very good, if I heard it on a classics station, I wouldn't think twice that it was one of the classic bands. I came of age in the 80's, and had to back track to the 70's stuff.

But this is not dated either. It sounds fresh.

Man, I thought my lunch had turned into Sushi. Nice playing.

When I seen Round and Round, I had the Aerosmith song in my head, not knowing there was a classical piece with same name.

Just trying to make a funny.

I know that! **I** was trying to be funny, which I seem to fail at often.

The real piece/title is a rondo - I was secretly hoping the RATT variation on a theme would get Glasscock's attention. He never comments on my stuff.

Plus, it's been too long since someone has asked someone what their trip is, and...that picture!

Cleaning up the hard drive, and stumbled across this one. Not a Hamer, but a Giussani.

A little Round and Round for you (pre-Floyd)

Challenge - make it the whole ten minutes.

I guess I was expecting Steven Tyler to kick it in.

This man has it all. Even qualifies for the Boobies thread. B)

some of the best sounds I have heard on the web:

it's a pity not many pros seem to play these fabulous guitars.

Damn, those strat tones are potent. Stevie Ray would have blown up his gear they come so alive.

What tone. Perfect balance between those broad lows, perfect mid-range and chrystal highs. I could lay back on the bed and play slow melodies with unique sustains for days at a time in an opium dream state .A small whamy bar for lazy extra vibrato during the feedback riden sustains would be perfect.

I would never need another guitar.

DONE! And glad I did hear the entire clip! Holy shit, Feynman. That was amazing. That is a style and technique I can only admire, having not an iota of ability in it.

Awww, shucks. Thanks! I probably couldn't pull this off anymore - that recording was more than a few years ago.

P.S. I feel the same way when hearing all you guys pulling good music out of an electric - I feel like a klutz with a pick and those narrow necks...but, they are fun, so I like having one around.

I really dig that Tubbs demo of the Tally too.

If you dig that, you owe it to yourself to check out Carl Verheyen (if you haven't already). The voicings that Tubbs uses remind me a lot of what Carl refers to as a "pastoral" sound...

Thanks! The MONEL is 100% stock. I've been thinking about swapping these Custom duncans out for something more vintage... but they sound pretty bad ass the way they are as well.... it's just a matter of taste. On the vid the Monel sounds nothing like it does in person, it's that crappy canon cam.

The sunburst has an SD Seth Lover in the neck and an SD antiquity in the bridge. It is just perfect. The most resonant and loud guitar I have played (and I have played quite a few ;) )

Shawn Tubbs is a killer bad ass player. One of the most soulful players I have heard today. It's a shame not many people know him. He should really start doing more solo stuff... I know he plays some gypsy jazz as well, which is as hard as hell to get right.

10 GORGEOUS minutes. I made it all of the way through and am on it a second time... f**king brilliant playing and tone. I could listen to it all damn day.

One of the most important recordings in this thread since it features a Hamer guitar with Hamer pickups.

I suppose that it doesn't hurt that it's also a kick ass demo featuring fine as wine playing and sweet, sweet tonal bliss.

I just love that little off hand recording you did in a big way... I can't help it. :)
