moozak Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 the previous recording was my Hamer Special K... but since you also said "...or other" here's a few more recordings with some Les Pauls:this is a cover tune by Count Basic and it's called "On The Move" - i recorded it with my (rare) 75 Red Sparkle Deluxe Les Paul fitted with humbuckers. (there is a gap in the middle of the tune which was supposed to be for a horn player but i never really finished the recording... but it's good enough as is i think):http://www.soundclic...2&q=hi&newref=1this is a Johnny A tune called "Oh Yeah!" recorded with a historic goldtop Les Paul that i had for a while, my Germino Club 40 amp and my Fulltone Fulldrive II pedal:http://www.soundclic...1&q=hi&newref=1
Crimsontider Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 Potentially embarrassing, but when has that stopped me before? I give you "Lost Pieces":https://www.box.com/...nwsqq13hc1n8et6The singer from my college band Original New Originals breezed through Chi-town last weekend so the four of us (me and the other two guys are local) got together at the bass player's place for a jam. We set up a couple mics aimed at the backline and recorded ourselves as we tore through some of the old classics. This is one of the few that we all remembered most of the music and lyrics. First time in over 22 years that any of us have played it, certainly together, so be kind!Guitar is a PRS CE22 with a Rio BBQ Bucker. Amp is a Marshall Artist 3203 through a Mesa Thiele 1x12 w/ 200W EV. Effects are a Morley switchless wah, Bad Monkey overdrive and BBE Soul Vibe.If I was sitting in a bar enjoying beers in college, I would have definitely stayed. Kind of reminds me of Neil Young, and the guitar is organic sounding which is so important. Sounds like you know it pretty well and play to its sweet spots or strengths.

Both of those are great! Smooth and highly listenable, with a nice touch. Bravo.

Although we managed to secure a few gigs at the prime music venue near campus (strictly on the strength of our friends' bar tabs) we were relegated to the house party circuit. Not enough pandering fraternity music in our set.Speaking of Neil Young, we covered "Rockin' in the Free World" almost immediately after the "Freedom" album came out (suck on that, Pearl Jam). We tore through that one last week as well:https://www.box.com/s/itaihvzwl25vnbrnt63t

I was a little young when the earlier Young classics came out but instantly like Hurricane, but loved Freedom when it came out. It was the only Neil Young that I have bought and It never ages. Your band sounds good enough for the college circuit to me. But you had to play covers which could be a bummer when you didn't have the equipment to copy everyone.
Uncle Thor's Hamer Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 the previous recording was my Hamer Special K... but since you also said "...or other" here's a few more recordings I missed the "or other" part, too. The last one is definitely a bit rough in the vocals! In honor of hurricane Sandy coming ashore in southern New Jersey, here is a song I did with one daughter and her bandmate about getting caught in a riptide at the Jersey Shore. Main electric guitars were her late 70's Ovation Preacher Deluxe and an Ibanez SZ520. The acoustic was an Ovation 6778LX. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=6687247 Farewell, Friend. Utilizing an Ovation 2007 Collector's edition acoustic, Hamer Newport, and a late 1970's Ovation solid body single coil "Viper". http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=9031639 Wingman. A Saturday Night Special goofing off in the home studio messing around with a new short A-scale 12 string electric. Also features the Ovation Viper. Inspired by real events... http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=9499128 Here's the little 12 string guitar: Ovation Viper:

tomteriffic Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Ok, since we're way deep into this thread (with a TON of amazingly great tracks), I'll play since it'll be largely overlooked..Ours is a little 60's/70's folk 'n' roll, singer/songwriter type outfit. Guitar, bass and (usually) hand percussion. We stepped out a little on this one, though. Most esteemed redhead played her proper kit rums and sang. I sang and did everything else. There are a couple of virtually inaudible acoustic guitar parts on there. The obvious one is my '82 Sunburst with a Rio BBQ in the bridge, run through a Fender Pro Junior with some vintage glass and an Eminence in it. Straight in, no effects. No shredding, but a very nice skronk.http://soundcloud.com/tomteriffic/09-modern-world-mastered
tomteriffic Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 And another with some meedymeedly bits. Those were done on a '97 mahogany Standard with double '59's through a dimed Carvin tweed 16 watter. A Tube Screamer was added in front for the solo. Live I usually use a Duotone Custom to get back and forth between the various parts.http://soundcloud.co...el-bay-mastered
silentman Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Way late to this thread, but some cool stuff here. I've posted some of this before: Goodbye... an Introduction http://www.soundclic...d=11446646&q=hi Sip of Poison Couple of more: Improv over a backing track:
silentman Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Another improv over a backing track for a contest. I was outclassed There's other senseless noodling on my youtube page.
Crimsontider Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Posting for sound demonstration.A Korean Mahogany Hamer Slammer Series with USA Diablo pup's (JB and HS-2) . Considering the basement price, I like the sound. In 1998 Hamer's Korean line switched from Slammer Series to Import Series and the Californians went from Mahogany to Maple. Not sure of the sound differences.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYFX1_RfXJ0
Crimsontider Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Another improv over a backing track for a contest. I was outclassed That is a great sound you are getting. The smoothness of well chosen notes, great wood and a properly designed guitar and pups cannot be replaced by fast finger Freddie and his plywood guitar.. What kind of wood is that?
kurtsstuff Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Hamer Frankencali..made up of 2 or 3 different cali's..Marshall JMP-1 into a marshall 2203 clone..a bit of chorus and delay via an Alesis Quadraverb
silentman Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Alder body, maple cap, mahogany tone block, mahogany neck. Mesa Mark V channel 3. Can't remember if it's on the Mk IV or the extreme setting. I used a W/D/W setup with the axe fx ultra with some delay.

Sounds like the setup I used to have with a pair of Ampeg amps. Drummer did a nice job too.
jettster Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Tweaked the mix and mastering of this tune I did a few weeks back.http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11979817&q=hi
MCChris Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Here's a segment from another original song we did during the same session as my last couple of posts. I'm only posting the solo because I nailed that; the rest of the song, not so much:https://www.box.com/s/eqacgqks41kwnzlj4pvj
Hackubus Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 http://quadra-jet.com/audio/CopperheadRoad_hifi.mp3Here's a live clip from last Saturday night of my boring ol R8 Les Paul> ClinchFX EP Pre>Bogner Ecstacy pedal> lo input of Bray modded Marshall 2204 (high input too damn noisy to use atm, soon to go under the knife) > Presonus 16.4.2 mixer. The song, a mooshing of Lindsey Buckingham's "Holiday Road" & Steve Earle's "Copperhead Road", so as to fuck with all the rednecks' heads.edited to add the EP Pre to the list o junk.
Feynman Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Wow - that was cool. I would have picked "Les Paul" WAY down on the list of guitars I thought I was hearing.Very nice.
Hackubus Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I think the combo of middle pickup position & the low input side makes it somewhat 'un'-LP sounding. OTOH, it could just be my lack of guitar technique.

At a few points in there, tomterrific is channeling Johhny Cash (though I don't know if he noticed he is doing it). That track really hit me in a goodspot
bcsride Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 So, I'll post these. This one's a Hamer Studio GT w P90s, Taylor Acoustic, Hamer Cruise Bass Gen II (gotoh bridge). All tracked on garageband using its amp sims etc.http://soundcloud.com/bcsride/cominghometoyouThis one's all an '86 SSI and the '95 Cruise Bass. All tracked on garageband using its amp sims etc.http://soundcloud.com/bcsride/talktomeIf someone will tell me how, I'll embed them here so you don't have to go over to soundcloud.
