Ting Ho Dung Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I've been reading a lot about neck carves lately. Anyone know what the first and twelfth fret dimensions are on a Daytona?
Ting Ho Dung Posted December 19, 2012 Author Posted December 19, 2012 All over the place. What do you mean? The necks are different on every guitar with no standard measurment?
cynic Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 My 96 rosewood is .853 at the 1st and .886 at the 12thMy 94 maple is .861 at the 1st and .884 at the 12th

Those two necks are very close. Can you tell the difference in a couple thousanths of an inch when you play them? It's my understanding too that the maple necks don't have fret boards. The neck and fret board are the same piece of wood. So maybe the difference is in the fret board thickness of the rosewood and not in the "heal" or back side of the neck. My Daytona has a T-51 neck. I've never held another Daytona so I have nothing to campare too.

Feynman Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Wow - those are close numbers. The four Daytonas I've had were significantly variant. One neck was really slim, one full and fat, and the other two what I'd guess is a medium C-ish thing. I didn't own any of them long enough to measure them though.
zorrow Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Funny. I was going to ask that very question too. I think I want a Strat, but I *require* chunky necks. Thanks for the replies so far!
Ting Ho Dung Posted December 20, 2012 Author Posted December 20, 2012 I didn't own any of them long enough to measure them though. You crack me up. No wonder you said they were all over the place. Mine is very similar to Cynics.
ArnieZ Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 The neck on my T-51 is nearly identical to the neck on my old Daytona.ArnieZ
Punkavenger Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 The Daytona I had was a medium c thang ... '96 rosewood
