Hamerica Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I wonder what causes the phenomenon for "feast or famine" with certain models of Hamer Guitars on Ebay? Seems this past month has been Cruise Bass Month. Does someone see one posted on ebay and thinks "I have one of those and I should sell it" causes them to list?Just an thought it was kind of strange however, that can't be said for Les Pauls or Strats and the like.Hamerica
coolfeel Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 But it seems like you can ALWAYS find an abundance of strats or LPs for sale on Feebay though...
Steve Haynie Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 The Cruise with the red pickguard interests me the most. Instead of wanting to sell mine, I want to buy more.
sonic1974 Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Not confined to Ebay, but in general I've seen more silver Hamers for sale in the last couple of weeks than I ever recall seeing before. I guess things go in cycles.

What do you think of it?I'd met one when they first came out and loved it, but it took a while for me, the money and the guitar to all wind up in the same place at the same time. I finally snagged one maybe 9 months ago. To me, the Vanguard is the muscle car of the line. Light, fast, loud and rude. It's not made for smooth chords with numbers behind 'em (as my old country pickin' buddies would say), although I imagine it could do it in a pinch. Rather every note seems to pop right off the guitar with an unusual immediacy.
Toadroller Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 My economic theory is that the closing of the Hamer brand brought out those looking to cash in; those high asking (don't know about getting- askin' ain't gettin') prices sent signals and pulled more onto the market. If the gettin' ain't the askin' some will go back into the closets, some will sell for lower. There will always be a ton of Strats and LPs for sale; they've made a ton of them.

The distortion compared to a Sunburst I had, was maybe a little "dirtier" or a little fuzzy or something. Sounded like an old blues record.

"He will never paint another masterpiece again!" Quite often, the artist quit painting masterpieces 20 years earlier when he was 70. Bob Benedetto makes violins now. If you want one of his archtops you have to find one that was made years ago.
