memphis Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 What do you guys think about this one. I want to make a run for it . Seems to be on the high side, but also appears to be in good all original shape..... <a href="http://www.ebay.com/itm/CANADA-Hamer-vintage-1982-All-original-rare-factory-tremolo-/231181281264?pt=Guitar&hash=item35d37a67f0"
Steve Haynie Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Dunno... Better ask how much it weighs first. >cough< >cough<
cynic Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 If you're looking to pay a 60% premium (+ shipping) for a guitar with perhaps the least popular bridge in Hamer history, then it's a great buy.
memphis Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 Exactly what I needed to hear... thank you for educating me!
Carl.B Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 That was mine at one time! It's a great guitar just wish I would have had a chance to buy it back but you live and learn. The seller is only off by about $1100 and then add that 138.50 shipping charge he is living in a fantasy world.Carl B
memphis Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 I haven't really seen these older specials come up for sale very often, so I really didn't know how outrageous it was. WOW. Thanks again guys. Carl B, I have to say man, that think looks just killer! I bet It played great too!
Carl.B Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Memphis I should have never sold it! I loved the guitar it had a slim neck but I have stubby fingers! Those old Dimarzio's are just perfect for that guitar IMO.Carl B
cmatthes Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Agreed on pretty much everything above. Seller is living in a fantasy world with that pricing for a mid-run Special...ESPECIALLY with that trem, but then again, he's hoping to snare somebody, I'm sure. That price would be high for a similarly appointed Sunburst. No original case is a negative, but he DOES have the trem bar, which seems to be somewhat of a rarity on those.
velorush Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 You know, if you're willing to spend that kind of coin, why not buy Peter's Special instead? It is less than 2/3 the price, with the (I'd say) almost universally preferred Sustain Block bridge, original case, even the warranty card! Add to that the benefit of dealing with a known HFCer rather than the uncertainty of eBay (which SucksTM), it's really a pretty simple decision!
Steve Haynie Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 +1 on Hamstd as a guy everyone here trusts. Stick around and early Specials will come up for sale here.
ARM OF HAMER Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Don't know the seller at all but the guitar does look great seen this one?http://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-Hamer-Studio-Guitar-with-Joe-Barden-Pickups-and-case-/181357155653?pt=Guitar&hash=item2a39ba9545
