My Monaco Elite Color and Pickups

I have been looking around at other indigo blue Hamers and none of them seem to be the same as mine. This one seems darker and almost looks green or purple sometimes? As far as pickups if I wanted to go less aggressive do you have any suggestions, I have read some people move the custom neck pickup to the bridge and then replace the neck pickup.

IMHO if you want less aggressive but want to stay duncan the Custom 5 is an awesome choice for the bridge. Paired with a 59 in the neck it is a great set. Guys are going to push the WCR Stuff and they ARE killer if you want to spend the money for some.

Indigo Flip Flops like what you are describing. I had a 2001 Studio that was just like your Monaco.

I put the Rio Genuine Texas / Buffalo Bucker set in the Kiz Senior (double cut sustain block Special from '03) and found this to be an excellent lower-powered combination. The Buffalo Bucker is very much like a single coil in flavor - they even wound it for me Hamer style!

They also split nicely.

Not touting them as "the ultimate, close the thread, forget everything else" combination, but they're a really nice alternative and not terribly expensive.

The Whole Lotta Humbucker set will be just what the doctor ordered for the Monaco Elite.

The Custom 5/'59 combo is a good one but it's a good bit more aggressive than the WLH set which are sweet and vintage.

Interestingly, the WLH set is the closest I've ever heard a company come to the old DiMarzio DP103 pups that came standard on Hamers from 1978-1983.

THAT would be sweet!

I don't know a lot about humbucker's and I should not open my mouth on the expert forum. I can tell you about a year ago I put SD 59's in a lot of my guitars neck and bridge positons. Sounded awesome in my Les Paul Studio. However I did not like them in my Hamer Studio. I bought a lot of these off eBay so maybe I had a bad set of pickups in the Hamer Studio. All I can say is there are a lot of options out there. Good Luck...

If they sound anything like what I had in my 80 special I want them!

Thanks Zenmindbeginner!

Zen was shy to recommend the top notch video he had made for SD for exactly this pickup.

Enjoy!
