Eric Weston Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Nice guitar- don't see too many with a non-reverse headstock. Got a price in mind??
Ryan07 Posted December 6, 2005 Author Posted December 6, 2005 One hundred BILLION dollars! OK fine... is $450 reasonable? I honestly have no idea of it's value so I'm just throwing out a number. Let me know if it's inaccurate Will entertain trades. I also got an email regarding the neck profile. To me it's similar to a Fender, though a tad wider. Definitely thinner than my old Diablo II.
silentman Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 You don't see too many in that finish. Classy.
Ryan07 Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 Got an email requesting the fretboard type. I believe it's Pau Ferro. Can anyone confirm this?
atquinn Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 From what I understand, they made Centaura's with Pau Ferro, Rosewood, Maple and Ebony fretboards. If it looks like rosewood color-wise, but it's more like ebony texture-wise (which is to say, it's not porous), then it's Pau Ferro. -Austin
SirDouglas Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 is it just me or is the neck wider on the cents than normal??? Sir Douglas Randy
ZR Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Randy, it's just you. ; ) The Centauras had quite a small (dinky) body making the fretboard wider looking than it really is. The Centaura was my first Hamer and Toby's taking good care of it now on the other side of the planet.
Jimbilly Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 $450 sounds like a very fair price for that finish. I'll go ahead and give my opinion that the Centaura is the most underrated Hamer, I really enjoy mine, I pick it up and it's hard to put down.
Ryan07 Posted December 9, 2005 Author Posted December 9, 2005 Craig I didn't get your email. My Hotmail account sucks. If anyone wants to contact me please email me at estesone@yahoo.com Thanks
Craig S Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Yep, I got it....I don't know what I'm going to do with it though...lol. I will probably reinstall the switch just for originality sake, anybody have the original wiring schematics?
tomteriffic Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Got it right here on the site, Craig:Centaura diagram
Craig S Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Got it yesterday..... much better than he described..... Heads up for yet another good HFC'r to deal with, had it in a couple of days... thanks
Ryan07 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 Glad you enjoy. How does she play? I forgot to tell you, I felt bad about not having a truss rod tool so I made one for you. It's in the front pocket of the gig bag.
Craig S Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 It's like most Hamers....play great. I might need a slight neck tweak but I figured I would let the neck settle down first after the weather extremes of shipping.. I don't know if it's a long time keeper at this point because it doesn't fit my style, but I'm having fun with it right now
