A friend just posted a video of us on YerToob and facebook. Our bit is only part of the video and I'd like to be able to grab it and cut it into just our part. not to knock the other guys, the guitar player in that outfit is a good friend, but...

Is there any was for a mere mortal with limited tools to do this?

It's official, I must be an idiot. I get to the https:// page (which appears to actually be a redirect) but clicking/right clicking in various places doesn't seem to give me any kind of save/rip/whatever options?

OK, not sure what happened but it appears to be down currently? I used it this morning? Go figure. It should redirect you to a new page with different format options presented as links and you save from there. Sorry. Maybe check back later?

KofSeatlle, do you have a youtube account?

I use a program called videobox from tasty apps. Mac only. Probably PC apps available. You can search for videobox and get some really interesting results but the link here works well.

You can sometimes look in the activity of the page and find the video and download it. Doesn't always work.

If you want to send me a url I will download it for you and you can either give me times to cut or I'll just put the whole thing on dropbox.

Use anyvideoconverter. It's awesome. Lets you do a lot of settings, chose type of output file format etc.

Just do your settings. Paste the youtubelink and click "rip". Very easy to use. You can even choose what audioquality you want.

Thanks for the offer, mighty kind, but it was actually Tom that needed the video. Bummed that my little online tool no longer exists or is working.

Actually, I was asking because maybe that is why it worked for you to add the s to the link.

I do have a Youtube account but the tool I was suggesting is actually a third party website, not affiliated with Youtube. I never log into Youtube unless uploading. I just use it for guitar lessons and like to save the lessons so I can view at my leisure and speed :) I tested it this morning before posting from my work PC and it worked fine. I think Tom broke it :) Hasn't been available all day?

Awright, dammit. It's just a little gig clip from Saturday, showing off the "folk" half of my dippy little folk 'n' roll trio.

The good: We didn't screw it up too badly and there are two invisible Hamers in the lineup (Duotone Custom and Eclipse 12)

The bad: It's a tune by dem Grateful Deads. but a lot more tolerable than most.

Godin acousticaster -> frankazoid pedalboard with probably just a little bit of Roland acoustic chorus -> Fender Super Champ XD on the clean, non-modeled channel -> Seismic Audio extra-deep 12" cab (aka Picasso's Basketball) with an Eminence Red Fang.
