Scarabaeus Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Look at this. Is this a crack in the finish only, or is the wood cracked as well? I say the wood is cracked as well, because it would have had to in order to lift the finish and create a fault line like that. The owner says "the guitar has a gloss crack behind the head, but it's not broken." When I questioned him about it further, he said "I have shown the guitar to my guitar shop and they said that it's nothing important, a luthier has to refine the gloss and the paint, that's all." What do you think? I think he is FOS. (Sorry about the big pic, I wanted you to see the detail.)
HamStd Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Unfortunate on such an interesting guitar too.......Peter.
BCR Greg Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 I've seen a few headstock cracks, and that one is way more than just finish cracking there!I'd say his guitar shop is stocked with idiots.
doody Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 The owner says "the guitar has a gloss crack behind the head, but it's not broken." The owner sounds full of shit.
AdmiralB Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Unfortunate on such an interesting guitar too....... Indeed. A guitar with no serial number, for starters, which would appear to be 1990 or newer based upon the lack of the through-drilled nut.
kurtsstuff Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 The neck is broken and for his comment I'd break his neck...
serial Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Isn't this the SS1 that got people into a tizzy at one of the (Midwest IIRC) HFC jams because the guy sold it or promised to more than one person? I just remember something fishy about the deal and then somewhere in my dusty memory, it ended up on eBay or something (don't know if it sold or not).A little help? That's a break.
HamStd Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 I think this one is a different one. I believe the MC2 got that one that was on ebay/Midwest Jam guitar. I seem to recall that one having Steve Steven's signature on it, clear finish on the back of the neck and the standard two toggle switches as oppose to this one having the 3/5 way switch.Peter
serial Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Could be. I kind of stopped paying attention to SS1s-as much as I tried to like them (and there is no denying that they are nice guitars), they just aren't for me. The SS2s work much better for me.
wyldbil Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 I'll take it Same here. Some Gorilla Glue and a little patience... she's good as new!
