Initials under the pickups?

Recently during cleaning I noticed these underneath the neck pickup. Is this code for specs or someone's name -final assembly?

It's the finish.  I had a Doutone in 59 burst that had 59 in the neck pickup route.

That is the finish code ("JZ" = "Jazzburst", "VO" - "Vintage Orange", "59" - "Clownburst", etc.).

Sometimes, other things may be written there too, as mentioned - special dealer runs, artist guitars, a heated game of "Tic-Tac-Toe"...
