PSA: Supro 2020 Westbury $379 @ Sam Ash

Appears to be a decent deal, most other places I found had them going for $800-1000.  Available colors appear to be white and turquoise.  http://www.samash.com/2020-westbury-electric-guitar-s2020awxx-p

Maybe other places will price match, don't know. It's a 'black friday' deal I guess, probably runs through the weekend or 'while supplies last'.  Unclear on shipping, possibly free, possibly not.

Is it any good? I haven't a clue.

The description says it has a wood body. I know part of the primitive funky tone magic in this '63 Belmont that crossed the bench earlier this year was the hollow fiberglass ("res-o-glas") body. It also wasn't a "modern player's instrument" by any stretch. It held tuning and was reasonably intonated, but let's just say it was one of those guitars that fought you back haha. I'd suspect the reissues would smoke it in that category.

The above blowout does look like a great deal and a cheap way to add a functional and retro cool gold foil platform to your toolbox. I'll bet that reissue would be fun in open tunings with a slide. The '63 sure was.

These guitars were designed by Glenn Sweetwood of Sweetwood guitars.  I have owned a couple of Sweetwoods and they are very nice.   I have never played a Supro though.  Looks like a cheap way to get into one.

I agree with Jeff...I’m thinking greasy slide coolness....

Jared Scharff of the SNL band is playing Supros now. They seem nice enough when I picked a couple up. I was going from the same things - alder body, maple neck, Jetsons headstock, trapeze tailpiece, big single cols -  on my Moniker custom build, and this looks like a more affordable alternative.
