Hbom Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Answers to a question by Hamer Dave about the history of Di Marzio pickups April 24 2012 zenmindbeginner Posted April 24, 2012 DP103 was introduced in 1974. Basically custom orders for friends of Larry and limited production runs throughout the year. The earliest 1974 models had unstamped brass baseplates and sometime during the year DiMarzio adopted a "DIMARZIO PICKUPS" stamp that they used on the baseplate throughout 1975 and into 1976. All 1975 and earlier DP103s had long legs and braided one conductor cable and the aforementioned stamp.
ARM OF HAMER Posted February 17, 2019 Author Posted February 17, 2019 Hey thanks for that info gentleman!................I have my 1979 Black Hamer SUNBURST up for sale as you know and I had a look at this bridge PUP when I was changing strings and such here recently.I knew it was a Dimarzio pickup, just not the the model and the timeline when it was produced. This one indeed has all those features you mention. It does sound great w/o a doubt! Thanks Again!
Disturber Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Hold on to that one dearly. Those are hard to find, and I bet it sounds glorious. All my old 70's Dimarzio DP103's does.
