Pedalboard on the cheap

I don’t mind spending big dollar on stuff I want. And then there are things I’m all like, “I can do that shit cheap...”

pallet for free, truck bedliner sitting on a shelf in the garage. Power source and cable kit I bought years ago. 

Works great for home. Need a chorus, maybe an EQ, possibly a noise suppressor because my power source doesn’t have it built in.

My desert island pedals, in recent years, have been a TC Electronic Flashback delay and a Xotic BB Preamp (I use mine as a more organic OD/tube screamer).

The BB Preamp is the best OD ever.  It was the pedal that broke me out “all Boss” after 25 years.

I had a BB Pre and dug it, but ended up keeping my Reverend Drivetrain II instead.

They're sort of an acquired taste.  Meris takes the basic building blocks of other effects and makes these little ... machines ... out of them.  In another thread I think I referred to them as "compound effects".  It's not a delay or a flanger or any one thing you can put your name on, but instead it's 2-3 of those wired together where the knobs control multiple parameters across the effects present to keep ratios in sync, etc. and keep it sounding like a unified thing.  The Hedra, for example, is a delayed pitch shifting machine that's (arguably) simplest trick is to do the "Ballerina 12/24" sound

The wood-grain of your skid looks pretty 'thirsty' - would a couple-more coats of your spray-liner be warranted to seal it from absorbing additional humidity? 

For pedals, I'd check-out what Caroline and Fuzzrocious are doing.

Yeah, if I had wanted to make it something that would last for the ages I would’ve sanded it down more than I did, applied a primer first, then a few more coats of the bedliner. As it is, I just wanted to slap something together to bide me some time for a year or two as I built up a more permanent collection of pedals. Then I’d fashio together or purchase a board that would last quite a bit longer. 

Plus, as my schedule and playing time permits, I’m a basement player primarily so it’s a pretty temperature/humidity controlled environment.

If only I knew someone who had a camel toe they were giving up. Better yet, someone with whom I’d dealt before and always had a great experience.
