iownit4 Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Finally after searching for a few months I found the right deal on one of these beauties!! I love the early classics .I have a 91 heritage sunburst already but always wanted a bullion gold. Made the deal last week and couldn't of been happier. Guitar has a killer fast thin neck profile and tone for days!! This will definitely be staying with me for a long time!!
Texsunburst59 Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Congrats iownit4. That's an amazing looking guitar. Gibson Classics are amazing, and a Goldtop is the icing on the cake. I too just joined the Classic family the past April, and I agree with the neck profile and the tone for days. I scored this amazing '00 Gibson Classic Amber Premium Plus
DaveH Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 NICE!! I have a '92 Classic myself, with a plus top. I love the early Classics.
Disturber Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Congrats! I have a 1991 Classic. It was in for a fret levelling, crowning and dressing and a complete setup in november last year. Now it sounds even better than when I had done the set up on it. My tech just know how to bring out the tone (he did it on my 78 Sunburst too, two months ago). I also found an early 1990's set of 57 Classic's that I installed just recently (thanks Bubs42 for the advice). I was close to pulling the trigger on an R8 in april but I just realised that the only thing that was better about it was that it was about 0,5 kg lighter. The neck is sweeter on my Classic and it has that classic 50's Les Paul tone. And it's pretty bright, which is nice if you want to cut through the mix.
ARM OF HAMER Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Very Cool Guitar! CONGRATS! I owned a 1998 Gibson Les Paul Classic "Goldtop" and it was a very nice guitar indeed.
