Well, I've finally admitted that I will never need the whammy power of a double locking floating trem. Maybe not even a floating dual fulcrum trem. I picked this up some years back off of ebay, and it is currently set up with .010 strings, and has original pickups. It had to replace the entire Floyd Rose with a new Schaller unit due to wear and sweat damage. The knobs were also worn almost bright, so they were replaced as well, but I still have all the replaced parts and spares, which are included.

After that in 2018 I had it fully setup and given a fret dress by forum user Yen, and it probably has less than an hour play time since then. It comes with the original cases, which is a little worn. The case for the has one loose foot on the thin side, and it also used to smell like smoke a bit. I bombed it with arm and hammer scented baking soda, and there is no smoke detectable, but it also now smells like the baking soda, though not overpowering at all.

It comes with straplocks and a Planet waves checkerboard strap. It also with the tools for the floyd, as well as the box nut truss rod tool that clears the locking nut.

Asking $800 + Shipping. The box is 23.8 lbs and measures 47" x 18" x 6"

Killer guitars, those diablos. Looks exactly like my old one except mine was a non-reverse headstock.

Got rid of it for the exact same reason. I don’t use Floyds (rarely use a trem at all) so I got rid of all of my Floyded guitars except for the one that will get handed down to my son or go with me to the grave.

Nice price on a wicked rock guitar. GLWTS

Thanks! I picked up two, with the thought I'd be a whammy machine, but it just never happened. I also have a few other guitars with two point floating tremolos, so I need to make a decision on those as well. The G&L vibrato is very nice though, and doesn't detune nearly as much when bending. Also on my Luke III, I can deck it like most EBMM's if needed.  You would think with EVH being such a big proponent of "dive only", it would be a more popular configuration.

One thing I will need to do is pick up another guitar to stick a Dimarzio Tone Zone in. It's just a great pickup. Might see if I can pickup something from Musicman with a decked tremolo in HH, and swap out the pickups. It's supposed to be designed specifically for tremolo guitars.

Yeah, word on the street is the Tone Zone is what Dimarzio wound for the EBMM EVH guitars. I believe EBMM maintains the pickups were custom wound for that guitar (and the axis) exclusively. Others claim the Tone Zone is that pickup simply repackaged. Either way, I’ve played a Floyd equipped guitar with a Tone Zone in the bridge and it was indeed a fantastic pickup.

Yeah, EBMM likes to keep things a little secretive. Though, I don't know if they kept using those same pickups after EVH left. Some state that the pickups in the Axis are the same as the ones in the Albert Lee HH, and a few other guitars. Who knows. I have seen threads with people who own the Axis stating that they put a Tone Zone in it, and it changed the sound drastically.

I do know that the Tone Zone / Air Norton combo is what is used in a bunch of Ibanez guitars though.

I have thought about picking up an Axis super sport, but getting a Silhouette HSH and throwing in the Tone Zone and 36th Anniversary PAF would be a lot more economical.

EDIT: Looking farther into it, the Tone Zone pickup was introduced in 1991, which was the same year that the EBMM EVH models came out.

However, I have read that the Air Norton and Air Zone pickups are in fact closest to what is in the EVH and Axis guitars, or in fact THE pickups. They were both introduced in 1995, which is the year that EVH ended his relationship with EBMM and moved to Peavey.

Very nice.   Good luck with the sale.  I got rid of my Floyd-equipped guitars for the same reason.   The only one I really regret is a Spector Blackhawk that I traded to a buddy.

If it was a decked floyd, I would just deal with it. I'm also pretty much out of the 24 fret guitar world with this. It's one of many great guitars I have that sits unfortunately.

You could put a stopper in the spring cavity like these:

I thought about it, but it's also got a kinda small neck, like my other diablo did. I just got in some nice chunky neck guitars and I'm loving them, so the tiny neck guitars have to go. Once I get the frets dressed on my 1993 P90 special that's gonna go on the block as well.
