HamerCustomEr Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 I just showed this Hamer to my wife, and she said that it was the ugliest guitar she had ever seen. I guess that beauty is in the eye of the beholder! (Plus, she has probably never seen a Steinberger.)

Disturber Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 Wow! Been looking for this one. Can't be two Scarabs out there with a Floyd and a web and spider graphic? That one was for sale on Ebay Germany in the early 2000's. For around 1100-1200 Euros. I was hesitant and did not pull the trigger. Been regretting that often. I think Arab Scarab bought it and had it shipped over to the US. Is he the one selling it? He has not been on the HFC for years.

Disturber Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 That must have been sold for double the price of what a Scarab has been sold for ever? Kinda steep for a Floyd Rose equipped guitar, even though the spider graphic is very cool.

It's also the only Hockey headstocked, Ebony with Boomers Scarab I've ever seen... pricey but very cool and special guitar

I would know, I've had dreams about it since I saw it the first time... 😁 Arab Scarab used to have a web page with his Scarab's. He had a group shot with all his guitars. Some very cool Scarabs in his collection. I remember that the Spider Web Scarab was in that pic. I searched for this page yesterday, but I can't find it. Perhaps he took it down....

singlehum Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Sadly, the apparent buyer seemingly reporting shipping damage on a different forum. Tragic.

The saddest part of "...the apparent buyer seemingly reporting shipping damage on a different forum," to me is that the buyer does not know about our forum! Broken Scarab, no HFC... life can be cruel and empty for some.
OUTLAW1969 Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 OMG.....I recently received a guitar, and THIS was my exact fear.

They broke the mint Sunburst Archtop Tobacco with Floyd Rose I bought. Still fighting to get the insurance. I only use FedEx. Less expensive, faster and boxes are always in better condition. I really feel for the buyer! Wow!!! That sucks.

I just received a pedal shipped in a bare plastic bag around a bare paper bag! No box, no padding: just one thin layer of plastic, and another thin layer of paper. I had asked the shipper to pack securely, and he said that he would. Thanks, Reverb!

Some people (and many companies that should know better) just do not grasp the concept of what packages are subject to in shipping.

Yes, especially older.....wooded things..... that are glued / bolted together, and can shift around in their cases. Fortunately, my last guitar was packed for a nuclear war, because the seller cared, and took the time to ensure that it arrived safely. Safe guitar shipping CAN, and most of the time IS done, it just takes at least a little bit of CARE on the sellers part. Some things are just going to happen, I understand that, but preventive planning by the person who is shipping the item, can sometimes save the day. Shipping agents and their employees are not my favorite crowd to begin with, and I imagine them tossing things around on conveyor belts as they wait on their lunch break to arrive, so I TRY to beat them at their own laziness, and sadistic games, when I pack things for shipping 🤣

Without seeing the box, we are all just speculating that it was damaged in transit... for all we know, it could have been shipped that way... it's happened to me more than once... that a shipper sent a damaged item then claiming insurance recovery... seems to me, "for a $4k guitar" that it should have been supported/braced with bubble wrap under/sides of the neck & headstock to support better for transit... would love the history/order build info and a follow up on this guitar and damage issue
