G Man Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Title says it all. Been checking with the usual sources and have so far come up blank, so figured I'd try here as well. Here's the bass in need.
ARM OF HAMER Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Unless you have to have an original Hamer here is one source and they did great job on a pickguard for my friends Gibson ES-335. and if you look around there are others as well that will make one for you. Dave Scepter Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Have you tried Paul Chandler from Pickguard Planet? https://www.pickguardplanet.com/ https://www.facebook.com/PickguardPlanet?mibextid=ZbWKwL

G Man Posted January 23, 2023 Author Posted January 23, 2023 I've got an email into pickguardplanet, over a week now and no response. I've contacted a few pickguard makers and have not heard back from any. Must be a good business or bad businessmen, one of the two.
RobB Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Try Dave at: Frets On the Net. He typically makes smaller parts (TRCs, backplates, etc.), but it couldn’t hurt to ask.

That's weird, he always gets back to me within hours... and if he doesn't have the template in stock, he'll make one "out of a provided template"
G Man Posted January 24, 2023 Author Posted January 24, 2023 I just emailed pickguard planet again, although directly this time, rather than via the website contact method. Fingers crossed.
G Man Posted January 24, 2023 Author Posted January 24, 2023 Well that was the ticket, got back to me within minutes, nice that. Unfortunately, they only have a template for the 2nd Gen. I've asked if I can send a tracing to have one made from, will keep this thread posted.
G Man Posted January 24, 2023 Author Posted January 24, 2023 Rats, they don't work from tracings. And I can't even get a decent tracing as I don't have an original to work with and can barely see the lines on the guitar to make one from. Any chance anyone has an original Cruise pickguard they would be willing to make a good tracing of and send me that?
Acker Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 Hey G man. I have one. I got it in slightly rough condition but I think it’s good enough for a template. I’ve been meaning to send it to pickguard planet anyway so I think now is the time. I’d like to get a template so I can make my own as well. I’ve already emailed with him so I’ll just pack it up and send it. I really wanted a turquoise pick guard but I don’t think that color exists.

Sad hear it, they made me one picward for my 2gen cruise, in black mate, they did a fantastic work,
G Man Posted March 7, 2023 Author Posted March 7, 2023 Well, it took a little while, no worries there, and my template could have been a little better, as I had to do some filing to get it to fit the lower portion of the pickup, but overall, I'm very happy. I had Tony at Pickguardian do the work, so he has the template now, but again, the lower pickup route really needs to be mover to the left by about 1/4" or so. I also swapped out the stock DiMarzios for some Bill Lawrence/Wilde pickups that sounds phenomenal at any price, but for what they ask, a true bargain.
