kizanski Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 You can't get a sense of how huge those guitars are until you hold one. A friend of mine had a hardon for one of them many years ago. There was one a Giuliano's in White Plains, NY, so we went to see it. Beautiful guitar. Played as he hoped it would. The only problem was he stood 5'4". I looked at him, practically hidden behind it as he was playing, and said, ".... No...." And we left.
hamerican gigolo Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 I love those old Gibbys. That blonde Super 400 is just amazing! 😎

All I have to do is kick on the overdrive and I know it's not the guitar for me...
django49 Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 Motivated by the Scotty Moore Super 400 in the Elvis Comeback Special (1968)......Finally tracked one down several years later. Not sorry I owned it, but not sorry it is long gone. Sorta the same story with the blonde Byrdland, the other way......The way too short scale and thin and skinny neck tied my hands up in knots after 15 minutes. Like many beauties, both are best admired from afar. And your bank account will be happier.

So...it was basically like Malcolm Young slinging a White Falcon...
JGale Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Jeebus! I once asked one of the not-not-not Chris'es's how tall he was after seeing him with a Hamer Standard. It was not a Standard. I felt pretty foolish I tell ya.
crunchee Posted May 5, 2023 Author Posted May 5, 2023 The Switchmaster has apparently been SOLD, probably not a surprise as it had three original PAFs.
