John H Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 There are a of really nice Talladegas on Reverb - a Talladega, priced in the high $3k's, and a Talladega Pro, just north of $4k. Is that their current value? 2007 Hamer Talladega | Reverb 2009 Hamer Talladega Pro, Tiger Eye Quilt Top, Brazilian Fretboard | Reverb (Note: I understand the difference between "value" and "price".)
atomicwash Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Thanks, Bry! John H - The Tally Pro is a killer guitar! ...if you're shopping.
rickrock999 Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Based on recent sales on Reverb those are high. Depending on how nice they are you are looking at 2k to 2.8k. But there are not a lot for sale. How bad do you want it? How much are you willing to wait?
John H Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 Thanks, all. I have a Talladega, so I don't need convincing of their quality. I've always subscribed to Hamer as being a custom shop-level guitar - and I've always believed Hamers to be underpriced and under-rated. Got my first (a Studio) in the early 90s. Still have it. I've scooped up several others at comparably low prices, compared to similar guitars by different companies.' The Talladega is less well known that it deserves to be. Perhaps, the Pro addresses the perceptions that the regular Talladega is a 'niche guitar". It's pretty versatile, to my ears.
django49 Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 My $.02 worth.....A "regular" Tally should go for much less than that. In fact, mine def would if I had a nearby buyer. As to that Tally Pro.....I was the original owner and swapped in those pickups. Nice improvement over stock, IMO. There are not a lot of that model out there (I once heard 25, but what do I know?), so hard to say it is overpriced. It might be just about the best Hamer model ever, at least to my personal taste. So, why did I not end up keeping any of the three I owned? Longer story, that.....
gorch Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 I think we have seen quite a few sky rocketing prices on Hamer guitars, sellers seeming to cover inflation. Although, as far as I remember, the Pro had been a special order that had been in the higher levels from the first day on. I don't see it having risen that much since. On the other hand, the 2007 Tally appears to me as a standard sunburst makeup that's price would be out of range. Still, Tallies are wonderful guitars, and, at least to me, a joy to play.
jaded_musician Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 I have Tally and Tally Pro. Some of my favorite guitars.
