DaveL Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 Just scooped this up at my local store (Manchester Music Mill) 2018 R0 (1960 reissue) really nice flame and weight... slightly slimmer neck than I'm used to but feels and plays great. damn I have some stuff to sell lol pics enjoy. edit: resting comfortably after a pickup swap... Zhangbucker Duanebuckers. (needed a little more "thoooomp" )
Travis Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 It’s almost 90° right now and I just finished a workout in my garage. But THAT right there is HOT… Congrats on the score!
RobB Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 That's a beaut, Dave. Gibson's been putting out some great guitars in the last few years.
Disturber Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Love it. Congrats. I would love to lay my hands on a R0.
crunchee Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Has anybody else noticed that Gibson's necks (as shown on reissues too) got noticeably thinner from about c. 1960 onward, as well as on Fenders (and reissues, again...check out the neck thickness on a 1960 RI Strat as an example) at about the same time? I'm sure that's more than coincidence, but I can't pin down the reason why. Did it have something to do with more chord usage? Instrumental music? Surf music? More student players?
