Here it is! Its awesome playing, and sounding! Does anyone else think the book match is off on the top? Its the ultimate. I swear I have the worst guitar neurosis in the world, and I need help...I find flaw with everything even this gem. Here it is:

I think that book matching technique has been discussed on this board before. Frankly, I'm in your camp as I like to see the top as a mirror image, not offset like they did here. But Hamer and a lot of others do it this way and it still looks awesome!

Nice Guitar

That top is definately bookmatched. I've split/bookmatched a lot of tops over the years and it looks right. Most are not exactly a mirror image of the other side due to sanding, slippage while clamped, etc. In your case I would say it is a great top on a great guitar.

As Borat would say, "Very niiiice...." :D

Love the bound F-holes and the ebony fretboard. (That is ebony, right? Sometimes camera angles play tricks... :D )

The top looks great.

Overall, a very nice looking guitar. How does it sound and play?

Its Aztec Gold. Its actually a newport pro BE, with a flame top. So it has an ebony board, and a totally maple body. The top doesn't look very much like flame to me either. I ordered ultimate flame, but to me it looks more along the lines of quilt...

Looks like flame to me, definitely not a tight, pinstripe flame though (I actually think they tend to go with the looser ones for the ultimate tops since pinstripe flame is more common). Nice looking guitar.

Very beautiful Newport. When I ordered mine, I was torn between Tortoise and Aztec. Aztec Gold is just a classic color. I personally love the top and would rate it as Ultimate. I prefer the loose, varied flame over a tight flame, especially in that color. As for the bookmatching being "off", I've never seen any guitar where the seam is matched all the way down. Some PRSi have a portion that is closely matched, then it seems to drift. I think it adds character myself.

I'm rambling - congrats on the Newport, I think it's Hamer's finest design.

Beautiful guitar love the top and thinks it's matched quite nicely. Aztec gold is one of those colors that makes figured tops pop! Enjoy
