I made an offer on it last time it was up and they'll sell it for $1350 if memory serves.

I like that. Classy.

I asked the seller three questions, weight, how resonant and something else. They never got back to me, that was during the first auction. I'll take it to mean the guitar is dead and heavy, no thanks. If you can't answer questions I wont be buying.

I don't know what it is about sellers not answering questions like weight. I know from my own experience that BUYERs could be very tiring.

Question like. is the guitar Resonant? Is an IMMEDIATE red flag to a seller. Nobody wants to sell a guitar then have issues with buyer remorse.

But I usually send the buyer back a message and give them MY Opinion of the guitar. But weight is a tun-off to many buyers including myself.

But ya, I just asked a fellow the Date of $3500. electric on Ebay. No answer for a week now. So I just blow it off. Maybe there some personal issue and they really don't want to SELL? I've that more than you would think. That or they freaking idiots with attitudes and your best staying away anyway. IMHO.

Its tough place to do business and though I still mess with it. I only buy from guys like members here or I know from other web sights. Or from my surrounding Tri-State area so I can do a in person pick-up if the conversation seems to be going funny.

I will give a bathroom scale weight measurement, but asking if a guitar is resonant is a laughable question in my opinion. When people ask me questions like that I usually actually recommend they not buy the guitar from me because that's a question they need to answer for themselves after playing the guitar which is obviously not possible when buying online. Still, I would answer the question. I always answer all the questions I get as fast as humanly possible. To do otherwise is very bad form.

+1. a quick and honest response establishes your bona fides.

You obviously know little about guitars, I can't believe you would even post this. Sorry but if you can't play one guitar and then another and hear the difference perhaps you should stick to wood blocks.

I have double that guys feedbacks and a 100% positive rating, anyone with a brain would have noticed this. To recieve no answer is lame, anyone could say, "medium weight, not too heavy, sounds great acoustically, very loud."

Do you also ask if the guitar had mojo or played like butter? :D

No.

It's obvious to me you know little about guitars so I'll no longer add anything, later.

but asking if a guitar is resonant is a laughable question in my opinion.

I certainly can't question your experience (I've only been playing a few years), so don't pick on me. ;-) ... but why is asking if a guitar is resonant a stupid question? Although I suppose it's a bit subjective, it's not like asking if it "sounds nice" (which obviously is stupidly subjective). Even with my limited experience, I've definitely picked up guitars that just sound plain dead, unplugged. I ASSUME (?) that this would affect the sound of an otherwise nice guitar.

Now, maybe it's stupid to expect an honest answer, because not many sellers are going to say "yeah, it's dead as a doornail"... but still seems like a worthwhile question <shrug>.

Well, that was kind of my point. In addition resonance varies from guitar type to guitar type. So if you ask me if my 94 Studio is resonant the question is compared to what? Sure I think it's resonant, but if I tell you that, how are you going to interpret it? If I sell it to you and it's middle of the road in terms of resonances are you going to be pissed because you were expecting the most resonant Studio ever? Hell, for that matter, how many Studios have you played? Maybe I just sold you the most resonant Studio that exists but you're comparing it to all your singlecut set neck guitars which are going to perhaps be more resonant due to the construction. Basically, unless it's objective information that is not open to interpretation, I don't see any sense in asking it in a situation like an eBay auction. But that's just me. Of course, I don't know anything about guitars, so take that with a grain of salt.

This is my entire point, if you know anything about guitars you know a dead one from one that behaves much more like a great acoustic guitar. I like electric guitars with strong acoustic properties, I just think they make for better instruments in general.

Some will say it only matters once it's through an amp, I understand this but this is not how I approach these mattters. Asking if a guitar is resonant is not at all stupid, and it's really pretty straight forward, either, the guitar rings out or it doesn't. If you strum it and can't hear it, it's dead IMHO, but if it sounds like a mini acoustic now you have my attention.

I agree that "resonance" is a nice quality in a guitar. So how would you measure resonance and communicate that to a buyer in a way that was not completely subjective?
